I don't like this! Is there some way to get BD to either allow the pop-up or just get out of the way and let things go back to where they were?</p><p>I'm running Windows 7 and used Total Commander for all my file manipulations which is much easier than trying to find the TD icon and going through that menu.</p>]]>

Luckily I had made a disk image before I tried to install bitdefender. I downloaded the home version, started the installation, and got the following error message:</p><p>"Your PC will automatically restart in one minute.</p><p>Windows ran into a problem and needs to restart. You should close this message and save your work."</p><p>One minute later the PC restarted</p><p>The login screen appeared.</p><p>I logged in</p><p>The desktop appeared</p><p>Two minutes later the same message reappeared and my PC restarted.</p><p>I powered down my PC and then did a system recovery using my backup software.</p><p>Any and all help would be appreciated</p>]]>

I don't like to see the extension of the files, so that I have gone into Control Panel/Folder Option Hide and I have enable the box "hide extensions for known files".  Everithing is ok but after some minutes I see the extension of files again. I'm getting a compulsive disorder for it because I have to make that operation many times every day. I also have formatted my hard drive but I'm getting always the same problem. Do I have to replace BitDefender with another AV or can I solve this problem? How can I solve it, please?</p>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>For the last few weeks I've been having problems with Bitdefender.  It started when the message "Bitdefender is not responding" came up and it suggested I restart the computer.  I did so.  After the restart, a window opened that I had never seen before asking me which program I wanted to use to open the file "Julie".  There is no file named "Julie" on my computer.</p>
<p>
Also accompanying this new response was a warning I had 50+ viruses that Bitdefender could not resolve.  All of the viruses were inside the windows.edb file and could not be resolved by the team here without a specific file name. I have no idea how to get those file names because Bitdefender only named the .edb file. </p>
<p>
The first two times this happened, I ran a repair on Bitdefender and then ran an update.  Then I did a scan and all seemed okay.  </p>
<p>
When this happened again, I disabled the Windows Search service and deleted the windows.edb file.  That was several days ago and, so far, I haven't seen the virus notice appear.  </p>
<p>
Then this morning I again saw "Bitdefender is not responding."  So again I restarted the computer and again that window appeared after restart asking me which program I wanted to use to open the file "Julie".   <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6031943/uploads/ipb_attachments/emoticons/default_angry.png" alt=":angry:" /></p>
<p>
The circular icon showing scan activity, etc now shows the blue scan bar about 1/3 in a stationary position.  It used to move when there was any scan activity.  When I click on the firewall activity button the Settings page pops up.  When I click on the scan button, a different Settings page opens up.  This is all new.  Also, the program is very slow to react to commands.  </p>

I've never had problems with other anti-virus programs before. What is going on?</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I'm sure this will seem silly, but I'm having a hard time finding this info.</p>
<p>
How can I temporarily disable or turn off BD, I just installed Bitdefender Total Security 2013, and my system runs Windows 7 Ultimate edition.</p>
<p>
For example, when installing a program I might want to do this.</p>
<p>
Also, what is the best way if I want to prevent BD from starting up when my system boot_s up? And are there any other situations when it would automatically start itself up?</p>
<p>
I have an SSD as my system drive, and I don't think I want BD to constantly scan my drive in the background forever. I don't often access the internet from the machine I installed BD on, so I don't need to have it on all the time.</p>
<p>

I have files on my PC with names and addresses of clients that I need to delete after expiry. How good is the file shredder?</p>
<p>
I have shredded the files using a free Ashampoo optimiser, which takes ages but claims the files will be totally unrecoverable, even in a pro lab. BD file shredder is much faster, but I don't know if the files will be recoverable.</p>
<p>
To what standard are the files shredded?</p>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>In december 2012 I purchased 3 copies of Bitdefender. </p>
<p>
One copy was installed on my laptop, the other on my boyfriends computer. We're keeping the third around in case either of us gets an extra device.</p>
<p>
Last week, my laptop crashed. The device was completely inaccesible, which made it impossible for me to retrieve information <i>or</i> deinstall any products. The only option I had, was a fresh new windows installation. After my laptop was set up again, I wanted to install Bitdefender again but I'm afraid that it will use up the third copy as I did not get to use their official deinstallation tool. </p>
<p>
I contacted customer service with my question, and I got a reply telling me how to deinstall and reinstall the product. </p>
<p>
I replied kindly that, as stated in my first message, I did not have a chance to deinstall the product.</p>
<p>
Within the hour, I received a new message from the customer service. They told me that I need to install a support log tool for analysis and provide them with a screenshot of my situation so they could help me further. </p>
<p>
Since I'm running a fresh installation and have not even yet tried to install Bitdefender, doing so will give them no more information than my emails have already given them. Screenshot what, my cleaned up desktop?</p>
<p>
It seems they dont even to bother to read the emails and are just replying in standard formats, available to their customer service.   <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6031943/uploads/ipb_attachments/emoticons/default_angry.png" alt=":angry:" /></p>]]>

        I recently decided to go with bitdefender as the anti-virus protection on my new laptop. However, my new lap top came with a free trial of Trend Micro anti virus program. Before installation, bitdefender asked to automatically remove the existing Trend Micro program for me. After clicking yes, uninstall program took place, but it was unsuccessful. Bitdefender install program was able to detect the incompatible Trend Micro still, after the automatic uninstall process. However the current trend micro seemed to be already uninstalled, I was not able to find the program in my start menu or hard drive. So now I am left with no virus protection, I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out. Thanks</p>

Tunnel created and is up.</p>

PC on R2 (10.0..4.160) trying to get files shared from Server1 (192.168.1.165) on R1.</p>
<p>
If I disable Firewall on BitDefender can access files.</p>
<p>
Need Bitdefender Firewall "rule" so can enable FW.</p>

New to bitdefender. Previous software offered you opportunity to disable antivirus for a period of time for installs, etc. Have looked thru posts to find the disable trick. Have not been able to.</p>

Either different software or not enough information. No help screen found. Can't even find the version of software.</p>
<p>
As of today it has been a very difficult software to navigate and customize in comparison to the other. It does not appear to be real user friendly. This get's used on my work field computer and disabling is a need.</p>
<p>
Another question:</p>
<p>
Anyone know where get info on what the green thing in the lower right corner of the screen stands for. I realize it is like a dashboard of what the software is doing , but have not located any info on what the different symbols stand for it produces.</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I have an issue with Parental Control feature on Internet Security 2016, it doesn't succeed to block unwanted internet pages.</p>

I've raised the problem to BitDefender HelpDesk team since 2nd of January but the issue is still unsolved and no proper answer received.</p>

One year ago I was in the same situation with another trouble ticket, it seems that nothing has changed.</p>
<p>
 I'm not sure if they don't care about clients or incompetence it the word to describe their behaviour.</p>
<p>
Usually I am a quiet person and I'm not used to put pressure but in this case I have no protection on my childs computer and I've asked BitDefender to help me as quickly as possible and nothing happened after more than a week.</p>
<p>
Fortunately for me there are another internet security protection products which work very good and are free.</p>
<p>
It was the last time when I've paid for a BitDefender solution, they don't know how to keep the customers happy.</p>]]>
