Hi all

I have searched for this problem on the forum and have seen references to it but as yet have not found a succinct solution - in fact the discussions seem to fade into theories and no actual simple solution is offered.

I have been using BitDefender Internet Security 2013 for about 9 months now. I generally like it but one thing is increasingly annoying me, to the point where, if I cannot change a setting or something, I feel that I might have to stop using BitDefender (which would be a last resort and I really don't want to have to do that).

The problem is that sometimes if I am playing a video on a website it can start to stop/start as if I have a poor internet connection speed. The speed of my internet broadband is not the problem. I have noticed that when this problem develops I can see that the Firewall Activity on the BitDefender widget sits with the blue activity indicator at the half-way position. It will often remain at this level even when I have left the webpage & video that seemed to be causing BitDefender a problem. It gets to the stage where I cannot successfully play the videos. It's very frustrating and is, if anything, getting worse.

It can happen on any website that has video content - I have seen it on Vimeo for example. I am sure that it's BitDefender causing the slow streaming.

I have not made many changes to the basic settings for BitDefender Internet Security 2013 and I must confess that I look at the various settings for the Firewall etc but don't really understand what a lot of them mean (or the effect that incorrect settings might have - I don't want to make myself any more vulnerable than necessary).

I can see that other people have this problem - surely there must be a setting that would solve the issue? I should mention that this problem occurs in both Windows 7 and Windows XP.

Any advice from someone who has managed to get around this BitDefender interference would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

I just installed Bitdefender Internet Security. When I restarted the computer and I noticed it came up that it blocked a port, so I carried on and tried to get on the internet when I realized that my internet wasn't working. I start to check firewall setting and found stealth mode was turned on. Then i switch off stealth mode, internet start to work fine. I am not sure what stealth mode even does. Does anyone know why it's blocking my connection when it's turned on?

My employer uses SonicWall NetExtender to allow us to tunnel into a private network for file server access and RDP access office PC's all has been working fine until I recently installed Bit Defender Total Security 2013 on my Windows 8 Pro 64bit Dell laptop (XPS 15) and now NetExtender refuses to connect to the VPN server and does not invoke any port alerts from BitDefender to allow or block.

The server IP is connected to over port 4433, I'm baffled as to why I can't just allow port 4433 in BitDefender, surely this standard functionality for a full server security application!!!

I have taken action and added application exceptions into both the AntiVirus and Firewall modules without any success. I've also turned off both modules (in fact all BitDefender modules) but the issue persists.

Does anyone have any insight as to how I can allow NetExtender to connect and communicate fully with the VPN server, I have just purchased a 1yr licence for BitDefender only to find this issue which would have been a show stopper for me buying BD if I knew in advance it was going to be so hard to get around it.

I didn't have this issue with Kaspersky

Hi guys,

I am a very frustrated BitDefender user.

I am using the Total Security 2013.

With the firewall turned on, I cannot use Windows 7's file explorer to do FTP.

I have searched up and down, inside and outside, but found no solution.

I have tried all the combinations of the settings of the firewall that appear relevant with no success.

The network adapter = network type: home/office = stealth mode: off = generic: yes

General rules: all allowed

Application rules: cannot find explorer.exe in the list although I can see a bunch of explorer.exe nodes in the rules.xml file.

Adapter rules: Wireless Network Connection: allowed

Intrusion Detection System: off

Internet Connection Sharing: on

I have first repaired and then reinstalled the Total Security software. The build is 17.xxxxxxx.

What more can I do other than turning off the firewall to allow the explorer to have access to FTP sites?

Please help!

I've always used uTorrent as a torrent client to download movies. I've also used www.yts.re to download all my movies from since it seems like the most legit download site for movies. Recently every time I start up uTorrent I get a message that pops up from Bitdefender saying

"The appliction utorrent.exe accesses a web resource http://update.utorrent.li/installstats.php...er&pid=6864 that has been detected as infected. The web resource has been successfully blocked and your PC is now safe."

How can i eliminate this problem and go back to using uTorrent?

Alright if you havent heard of it, 7days to die is a very popular post aplolyptic survival game. It has two .exe files which it runs depending on the option you choose at startup. 1 is start the game normally which means its lauches 7daystodie_EAC.exe (which is the game with anticheat enabled) and the other one 7daystodie.exe which is launched when yoyu select the steam option run the game without anti cheat. Now apparently when I run the game normally that is the 7daystodie_EAC.exe file is run, I cant see any servers in the server browser or connect to it on the other hand the exclusion rule seems to be working fine for 7daystodie.exe which lets me see servers with VAC disabled which are max 3 or 4 (valves anti cheat disabled)

The only thing that makes the normal anticheat enabled game work properly is disabling the firewall. Now what I cant understand is why if I have the same rules created for both exes (everything enabled) one is working and the main one is NOT!!! PLEASE SOMEONE explain if you can or give me a solution coz I dont like disabling my firewall. Lot of wifi stealers and hackers in my area (fact)

What is the right way of setting utorrent up? Shouldn't the program do all of this on its own without any disconnects when using utorrent?Thks

Hello Bitdefender,

Recently I bought a NAS from Synology and tried to install it. It didn't work. The NAS was never visible on my network untill I discovered this thread: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...33648&st=20.

Before reading this thread I tried creating a Zone, shutting down firewall, antivirus and anti-spam. Nothing worked untill I changed the name of bdtl.dll in bdtl_.dll. My NAS was visible for about five minutes and disappeared again.

On my other laptop (without Bitdefender) the NAS is always visible.

I'm using Internet Security 2013.

Greetz,

Hi,

I'm using Paranoid Mode (and don't intend not to use it). When a rule is created, I always edit it in "Application Rules", so that it doesn't ask me again if it can allow the app to connect to the internet (see screenshot attached).

But, in most cases, I'm still asked to connect, every single time the app starts! Which is really annoying for obvious reasons.

Has anyone else this issue please?
