I set up Bitdefender and after entering in my information for MyBitdefender i received an alert under the ID Theft Protection. I tried to find out more information but the only thing i can find is a popup page to sign up for their monthly id theft protection for $15. If you have some kind of alert it would make sense to be able to at least see what that is about instead of forcing us to buy the information.

Somebody should have seen that I had already renewed and at least sent a email as I entered the new key in June I feel now like asking for a refund of both as I have lost all faith in Bitdefender but I shall never use you again .

I followed all the instructions from Bitdefender. Then also ran a program to delete junk (JRT or junkremoval tool) recommended by an article on malware and I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware Free. This managed to get the damned search hijacker off my Firefox start-up page, but it still pops up when I open a new tab. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS: "www.safesear.ch/?type=20140627-rv-ff-nt"

BTW, Bitdefender wrote to tell me that they don't deal with this kind of program because it is a PUP and has to be downloaded. But for those of us who click too quickly or miss the hijacker for other reasons, are we to be left floating on our own in cyberspace? The damned program is malicious enough to take over many Windows shortcuts and to sneak around all efforts to remove it.

Help appreciated, now that I've finished ranting.

Hello everyone. I am working on Russian and Ukrainian translations of Bitdefender 2015, but I have had serveral issues. I have already translated Security Center, Popups and the Bitdefender Agent. Technically, the strings are changed from English to RU/UA, but the program still continues to be in English. When I searched Qihoo 360, there were several general language files which were translated by other people and Qihoo got a non-official Russian translation. But here, I searched Bitdefender for a day and found nothing. For the experiment, I did a full translation of Security Center, I replaced all strings with Resource Hacker, but just some parts of the program became Russian, not all, and I translated much more text than it shows. (Attached screenshot) So I was just wondering where I can locate the general language files, or in which files I can edit the language configuration.

I will be really glad if anyone is able to help me, but if not, just let me know - will 2015 edition have a Russian translation? Thanks.

Hi

Firstly I would like to thank Bitdefender for an excellent security tool.

I have just purchased Bitdefender Total Security.

My main issue is finding videos that show step by step instructions of how to configure the many features of this product.

Is there any plans to offer this type of tutorial in the future.

Having tutorials like this would help many newbies like myself and perhaps also help promote the many benefits Bitdefender has over it competitors.

I have look for video tutorials but most of them are just plain rubbish, created by people who are not interested in showing how to configure the tool but are only interested in telling me why I should buy it. I know that, I need information on how to get the very best out of the product I have bought.

Maybe you know of a place I can get this information?

Many thanks.

Hello,

I am a new user of Bitdefender and I am still curious about the structure of Bitdefender's Modules.

I've recently installed Bitdefender Family Protection which installs Total Security.

After doing the full install and also registering to MyBitdefender I realised that a bunch of information is being tranferred between my PC and Bitdefenders Servers.

As I'm one of the (maybe crazy) guys who would like to know which type of data leaves their computer (and also where it goes) I am wondering if there is documentation available regarding those issues.

I would be especially curious to understand

-which communication is going on automatically

-do I have a chance to control that communication (like not registering to MyBitdefender)

-which features do I have to deactivate to minimize communication?

Thanks a lot for some advice.

Regards

Hi All,

Strange problem here...

As a Windows software developer, I have been developing an application that is targeted to run on the Surface Pro tablet. During development,

I created a regular desktop mode application. Then, on a whim, I wanted to see what would happen if I ran my desktop application on the Surface simulator

that is part of the Surface SDK. I started the Surface simulator, clicked the simulator start button, clicked the desktop tile. In the simulator, I navigated to my application via

file explorer (e.g. C:\foo\vs_solution_dir\vs_project_dir\bin\Release\foo.exe) and attempted to launch the application by double clicking it.

It appeared that nothing happened but after a little time, BitDefender poped up saying it was a virus and quarantined the application.

Now, whenever I try to run that same application - but NOT on the simulator - it won't launch, giving a windows error message. I know the application works fine as it

works on lots of other PC's.

Finally, if I try to tell BitDefender to allow the application, it wont stick. That is, BitDefender's list of allowed applications remains empty.

Pretty frustrated now. Can anyone help out?

Thanks,

Chris

I am changing to Antivirus Plus this year since I have a very solid hardware firewall which passes every known test I can subject it to. So having tried out Antivirus Plus for a while I have decided it is suitable for my needs.

The question I have is quite simple and will probably result in a yes/no answer.

When the BDIS license expires, will a currently installed copy of Internet Security be able to automatically be able to switch to Antivirus Plus if I enter my purchased Antivirus Plus key?

If not, I know what to do to clean up properly before installing AV+.

Thanks for any guidance on this.

Hi

I get this error when trying to connect to a specific website: Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

I use Google chrome (same problem with other browsers also, opera and Firefox), I only get this error when trying to connect to one website.

The reason I believe it has something to do with Bitdefender is that if I uninstall Bitdefender I can connect fine to the website.

Any help would be appreciated.

I bought Bitdefender a few weeks ago. The first AV purchase I've ever made. I don't really need it so much myself because I'm a "power user" and can therefore identify most risks on my own. That was why I bought the family pack. I bought it to better protect the devices of my family and lessen the amount of time I spent cleaning up their devices and making them run smoothly again. I bought it because it was apparently the best software there is with the smallest footprint performance-wise while retaining the highest security.

However ever since I installed Bitdefender, it has been nothing but a nuisance.

First of significantly increased boot times and increased load times. Obviously a little bit of a performance hit is to be expected, but more than I anticipated. That's however not the biggest issue.

I can't disable the Wallet feature. It keeps re-enabling itself and bugs the user about it fairly often. Same goes for the My Bitdefender feature. It keeps popping up and asking for login info. This is similar behavior to malware. Quite disturbing.

The install on my brother's Win 8.1 machine was the most problematic. It actually blocked a lot of software including World of Warcraft. It increased the start up times of World of Warcraft from 1-5 seconds to 2-4 minutes and when the login screen finally came up, it blocked login. Sometimes changing to the 32 bit client worked, but eventually that temporary workaround stopped working as well. I made exceptions on all exe files in the WoW directory in the firewall options as well as added them to the automatic game mode - didn't work. So I tried disabling all modules. This made Bitdefender unstable and made it crash on itself repeatedly. Even after re-enabling the modules, it kept crashing. I tried to repair the install and it basically was worse off than before and wouldn't load properly. It would say "Loading up modules" or something along those lines in the tray icon but would even after 15 minutes not have started up and would not be accessible. Eventually I just uninstalled Bitdefender from that machine and after that everything worked just fine. So the fix was to remove Bitdefender. That's not really a good solution.

I've used Bitdefender on both Win 7 machines and Win 8 machines and neither have left any positive impressions. It acts more like bloat/malware than functional, high security, high performance software. So my question is: should I ask for a refund (do I even have the right to do that?) when the software was more trouble than it was worth. It definitely wasn't worth my money. And there is basically no way that I will renew the subscription nor install it on my own machine since I don't need it personally. I use it on my Android phone though and that was mostly just for the heck of it and it actually works fine on that. The performance on my Android phone was as expected: great and non-intrusive. However I don't really need it on my phone either, so uninstalling it and getting a refund would be better unless Bitdefender or the users of this forum can come up with a proper solution.

TLDR: Not doing what it's supposed to; want refund or fix.

PS. It was also a giant pain to actually register to this forum. I tried several times with my hotmail account and it didn't work. At first I thought it was because I tried from a mobile device (sometimes mobile browser and/or sites don't work together properly), but same thing for desktop. Finally worked with my gmail account.
