Really, really tired of the "Unsafe Wifi" popup

  • This notification is happening in the Mobile app constantly, even when not connected to "open Wifi", even with another VPN running. Changing settings in your account or in the desktop application with respect to "special promotions" etc. Does not stop this "harassing" notification(adware). Having to disable "notifications" in the app just to stop being harassed with a "notification" asking to purchase something is not a solution. Lowering my security for possible "real" threats is not something a customer should have to do to stop being "harassed" to purchase their product or one of "their" services. Especially when on most cases I'm already connected to a VPN at the time (so safe if not being on VPN is the issue) or I'm not on an "open WiFi" connection. This is just adware within the product. If this is not resolved by the time my family subscription is due for renewal I will not be renewing. I purchase these products to help stop spam and stop being harassed online, not get more of it.

    I have BMS - Bitdefender Mobile Security + VPN installed on my personal phone. 1st, cause I believe it's a very good solution, 2nd, of course, to test everything that's happening. My personal device is a not-so-new Xiaomi Mimix2S. I have no harassment from the antivirus solution, nor the VPN. Indeed, I have unchecked the notification options, both in the app itself, but also on the phone's Setttings. This does not mean I have no protection, the software is doing its job. But I can choose what to stay on or not.

    On the other hand, we are striving to improve our products. A lot of efforts and resources are put behind the objective to be #1 in the cybersecurity landscape. And we want to keep our customers informed about the innovations or the updates that we deliver.

    An obvious and suggested solution is this.

    Allow your customers to check a checkbox on the VPN prompts to disable it forever which is a separate setting/attribute to the disable all recommendations.
    Allow your customers to save a list of wifi networks that we know are safe and we do not need a constant reminder of it being unsafe. If there is a corporate isolated network (air gap) in our workplace, we should also be able to tag it with "Ignore weak passwords" checkbox.

  • I have found the constant insecure wifi warning infuriating. My home wifi is not insecure and the password is more than adequate. I have uninstalled the VPN that is is installed automatically (like others I already have a VPN). The constant other notifications are also hugely annoying.

    I completely agree with the suggestions of @SJDenver and can't believe that this thread began over two years ago and Bitdefender have still not sorted this out.

  • To have to remove this is so annoying. After the popup is shown once there should be a checkbox that gives you the option of not showing again.

    Applications should be protective but not annoying.

    This one is very annoying. Having all of this recommendations feels like having a salesman right there in the app that you have to tell not to bother you anymore.
