Constant System Freezes

I'm getting constant system freezes since installing Anti-Virus Plus 2012.

I just got my computer recently and had a trial version of Bit-Defender Anti-Virus 2012 installed. When it expired I bought the retail version, unistalled the trial and Malwarebytes and installed the retail version. Since than, the system crashes several times a day to the point where I have to use the power button to turn it off. I did it so many times that the motherboard is not taking longer to boot (another issue I now have to look into).

I did re-install Malwarebytes after and I also have SuperAnti-Spyware, Spybot and Emsisoft Anti-Malware installed but not running - just use them for on-demand scans. I had them all before as well with the trial version everything was fine.

Last night I unistalled Bitdefender and noticed a speed boost on my computer and not a single crash since than.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem? Does Bit defender really slow down the computer that much? And why would the retail version start crashing?

  • Thanks, buit I followed the advise of someone else who posted on this forum and removed all my other malware software, cleaned the registry and installed Bitdefender. It seems to be working. I did not experience any slow downs or crashes last night. I haven't re-installed any malware software yet. I will give it a few more days and see what happens.

Bitdefender only requires Malwarebytes to be unistalled but there should be more detailed instructions as to remove all additional malware related software. It woild solve a lot of problems.

Do you recomend any malware software in addition to bitdefender? Should I even attemp to re-install Malwarebytes, Super-Antispyware, Spy-Bot and Emilsoft Anti-Malware? Is that overkill?

  • If you have removed the virus with other softer no problem. Now try to install your own bit defender.Because Bit defender is the only good antivirus which can remove all the latest threats.

    Hi :)

Running multiple security solutions on the same PC may affect their proper functionality as they compete for access to the same system resources. Even if they are turned off, there are some active processes running in the background.

We recommend you to uninstall other security solutions in order for Bitdefender to work properly.

In the current situation, if you don't encounter any issue, do NOT install any other anti-malware products.

    Thank you.

  • I HATE Bitdefender. I have used McAffee and AVG and have never had the problems that I am having with BitDefender. I do NOT want to spend hours trying to work around a buggy software. Please let me know how I can get a refund. Ever since I installed this software my computer freezes continuously, often I get nothing but a grey screen and I cannot even turn off my computer to restart without hitting the shutoff button.

    Please provide a refund! <img class=" />

Exact same problem here. Have contacted support via e-mail numerous times with no solution in sight. They tell me me to uninstall programs and update drivers I do not even have on this computer.

My requests for a partial refund or even downgrade to BitDefender Internet Security 2011 have been completely ignored. I am at my wits end. If you find a solution please post so we can all benefit!

In case BitDefender support reads this my ticket number is Ticket ID:201112051000752.
