[escalated] Relation Between Laptop Mode And Paranoid Mode

Paranoid Mode is disabled when the Laptop Mode is active. How this is useful?

Comments

  • Hello Omer :)

When you run the laptop on battery, it will consume more power to display those alerts. So Paranoid Mode is set to off when Laptop Mode is active.

    Take care.

  • So when the Power is plugged in again, why not the Paranoid Mode turn back ON automatically?

Is this a joke or what. Why shouldn't BitDefender completely disable itself in Laptop mode then? The idea of laptop mode is to not start battery-expensive system scans, not to disable paranoid mode which then allows applications to access the Internet without authorization.

As far as I know if I keep plugging-in the the power source to the laptop even after its battery is fully charged, it is harmful for the battery and may reduced the battery life and therefore also reduce the backup time. The users which like User Mode and Paranoid Mode set to ON in order to know whats going into my system and want to prompt to authorize the application for action, can no longer use these feature i.e the User Mode (so-called) is not beneficial in Laptop Mode. In other words the the System Protection is compromised by the Battery/Power Consumption.

When the Power is plugged in again, why not the Paranoid Mode turn back ON automatically, then?

  • Any reply?

  • Any reply will be appreciated.

    Hi ONT,

Thank you for reporting this situation.

The Paranoid Mode will not turn ON automatically after exiting Laptop Mode. The testing team will try to implement this 'modus operandi' in Bitdefender 2014.

Thank you for your feedback! :)

    Hi Christian

Modus operandi (plural modi operandi) is a Latin phrase, approximately translated as "method of operation" according to Wikipedia. And if this is what you mean to be implemented in 2014 version, then can you tell me that where was it in the Beta version, I didn't find such mode of operation rather than the clone type settings like in 2013 version.

And by the way can you tell me the logic behind why the Paranoid Mode will not turn ON automatically after exiting Laptop Mode ? My concern is simple that whenever I switch the product to Laptop Mode and exit from it, the settings before switching must be restored automatically also because you believe that we all are Novice Users. So kindly implement this as we are really very lazy and dull and unintelligent to do the settings again and again.
