Desktop Window Manager Reports Error 9020
hi,
after installing BD on a new, clean win7-machine the screen flickers
every 5-6 minutes and the following error-event is generated:
Event 9020, Desktop Window Manager:
"The Desktop Window Manager has encountered a fatal error (0x8898009b)"
the PC is a 2006 amd-shuttle, the graphic card is a Zotac/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
newest driver (301) is installed, but also tried elder version (296.1) after experiencing problems.
after uninstalling BD the error is gone...
- same with BD 2013 and 2012
- same with win7 32bit / 64bit
do you have any information/experience with this type of error?
thanks for your help!

Hi
I received your PM with those logs.
In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.
Please follow the steps below and send us the result:
a ) Go to this page
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.
b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;
c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;
d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;
e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.
If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on
or
and send me a PM with the download link.
We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution in the shortest time.

hi christian,
cannot pm you - get some weird "not possible" message.
anyway, here is the requested file:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/w31z8m
but, since I have the same problem on a newly installed
win7 on the same machine (dual boot), I guess its
not a installed-software but some driver problem?
the grafix card is a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 550 Ti
thanks for your help,
best regards,

Hello
A product update was released. Your build should be 16.20.0.1483(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).
In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).
Changelog:

thanks for your answer, and sorry that it took me 2 weeks to reply, but I was pretty busy
and I wanted to check the issue with both (bd 2012 and 2013) versions.
I just updated my win7-x64-test system to bd 2013 build 16.22.0.1534,
but unfortunately the problem persists (also with my x86 installation and bd 2012).
any other things we can do here?
thanks for your help,
best regards,
harald
btw: my main problem is with bd 2012, which I registered a few months ago (seems I posted in the wrong forum group then?)0 -
Hello
I manage to find something on Technet forums(Microsoft).
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...d9-157a99b2d558
This could be related to nVidia video card.
Do you have the latest driver?
Take care.0
