Difference Between "trusted" Netword And "home"

Hi!

I have followed the guide "recommended settings" for the firewall module. But I still encounter some problems accessing shared folders on my home network, both SAMBA and Windows home sharing. But if I set network type to "trusted" it all works fine.

But, here is my question - does the firewall do any work at all if I set the mode to "trusted"? Or do I need to set it back to "home/office" and start tweaking to have any protection?

Is this to say that if I have 'Home/Office' Network Type ticked for a specific Process and all other types are unticked, then the Process will only be allowed on Home/Office networks, and not allow inbound or outbound traffic from/to the Public Internet?

  • Hi Scott :)

You are absolutely right. The process will be allowed to connect to the internet only on that network profile.

    Thank you!
