Software Engineering?

What is the difference between software development and software engineering?

  • Hi,

In BitDefender case, developers screw it up and engineers try to fix it without success. :)

...So happy that i don't have to deal with this software anymore.

    Hello BigProblem

Please let me explain why BD run fast and smoothly (with some minor issues not affecting speed or whatever) on my machines since 2008 I'd first used it.

First of all, I never kept manufacturer's pre-install OSs. They have too many garbage in their pre-installations like maintenance, power, media, updating etc. managers, drivers & apps which are absolutely useless (except the necessary ones, e.g. drivers) cause Windows has almost whatever a user needs.

For a new machine, I always prefer a clean/fresh OS installation (genuine or not) keeping it always updated.

I never let start up apps running (including auto-run functions) unless the necessary ones (e.g. BD), I open them only when I need them. After a new installation I always look for it.

I keep my system clean performing temp & registry cleaning, periodically.

I am always very careful about new installations...and I think that's all.

Of course, I know, all these are very general and not too easy for every user but it's the only way to have an almost perfectly running machine.

P S: It is not a matter of luck.

    Regards!

    ...in addition

I always prefer only one product for AV & Firewall.

...We don't need paid shills to tell us...

    ...from wikipedia

"Shill" typically refers to someone who purposely gives onlookers the impression that he is an enthusiastic independent customer of a seller (or marketer of ideas) for whom he is secretly working.

If this is what you mean, I suggest you to play with your...toy a little more and maybe you'll have piece on your mind :) .

P S: My misinformation is as you can? see generic and only about me.

  • You know..****** boy

  • BD runs fast & smooth on every machine I've tried (at least ten) but I've previously prepared them (like above Post #5) for this.

So, I say again that is not a matter of luck.

P S: Sorry for my previous post but you also have to be more polite.

    Regards!

  • Ok,Ok you are not alone to this, I know.

The bigger and unacceptable issue is (once again) the totally lack of support for this "grumpy" product but...

Well done to move to another solution and if BDsupport will remain like this I'll move too, after expiration.

    Regards

  • I agree with werby3's post #5. I almost do the same.

+1 here also, on werby3's post #5. Good way to go about it. When you have the disc, works great, otherwise, if you're restoring from a manufactures restore partition, usually it includes all their installed bloatware :(

  • I know all this things that you mentioned.

We don't need paid shills to tell us things that are not related to this thread.

P.S: I am really sorry to say this but BD does not run fast and smoothly.

To whom are you referring to as a "paid shill?"

I as I put in another post yesterday, all I've seen is a lot of complaining from your posts which add nothing to the issues being discussed. They're usually "Me too!" issues. Your experiences may be different, that's lamentable and certainly that something BD should investigate and work through. How do I know you're not a "paid shill" from some other AV company or some unemployed guy who just is out here to muck around in a forum you happened to find? Strangely enough I've been using BD for years and personally I have it 8 Windows 8 Systems and 9 Android devices now (Sphere edition ;-) ) This doesn't include commercial setups where I"ve recommended it to customers. Since Mid August now, 2013 has been stable for me, 2012 was very stable the same for 2011 and so on. So while you may have a particular set of issues that you seem unwilling or can't get direct support for I can give you a standard MSFT response "Have you refreshed your system?" Why don't you try that and then get back to us on your results? If you don't want to do that then why not get a hobby like bird watching or something.

    Peace.

But bloatware makes the world go round!

How else would we get all those free ###### and ###### ads?

  • lol, :D ...good to see you, Will :)
