[escalated] Windows Action Center Messages

W-7 Action Center says that:

- w-Firewall & BD Firewall are both turneed off

- BD antivirus reports that it is turned off.

- windows defender & BD spyware say they are both turned off.

My settings on my BD window say they are all turned on.

Any ideas on this one?

    Hi Christian,

I had sent the above to support@bitdefender.com.

They sent a trouble shoot document - i am trying to follow their instructions, although i am hazy on a bit of it.

Just to note, the MS Action center now says WINDOWS SECURITY CENTER IS TURNED OFF.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

    Christian,

W-Action Center now reports that BD Firewall, ant-spy & anti virus are all running, and w-f-wall, etc, are all off.

    GREAT!

    Don't know how it happened.

But i did download some MS updates, maybe that straightened things out.

    However,

Be assured i for one appreciate BD - i have had others, but you guys have a high level of politedness. Thank you.

ps - if i ever am using this forum wrong, please notify me. i am still learning.

    Hello :)

The issue that you have reported has been acknowledged by our team and is currently being worked on for a fix. The fix will be done by means of automatic update and won't require any additional action from your part. Please rest assured that we will let you know about the fix as soon as we will launch it.

This is a miscommunication between the product and Action Center. If you don't see any warnings in the main window, the product is functioning properly.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience that we may have created and we rest at your disposal for further information.

Thank you for your support and patience.

  • Hi Christian

I have just purchased Bitdefender 2013 Total security and am facing the same issue. Everytime I start my computer, Windows Activity Centre displays alerts that Windows Defender and each of the Bitdefender components (Antivirus, Firewall and Antispyware) are turned off. If I click on these alerts, I get an option to turn on Bitdefender with a message saying "Choosing this option will run a signed application registered to Bitdefender Antivirus that Windows can't monitor".

As instructed elsewhere on the forums, I have run the support tool and uploaded the output to sendspace and sent the link to you via PM. I have also tried the repair procedure as outlined in the forums (the problem was not fixed), and am running the latest version of BitDefender (16.24.0.1682).

Please let me know how this issue can be fixed at the earliest.

    Thanks

  • Hello :)

Please read my post from above and you will understand the current situation.

    Thank you!

  • I don't know if there has been any change at Bitdender's end? I didn't do anything but the Action Center flag doesn't have a warning cross on it any more. The message in the Action Center about services being turned off is not there now.

    Hi there Christian,

Besides the update, is there some problem of action by Bitdefender's Firewall or it's really just a "text" problem between MS and you guys?

    Cheers!

  • False notifications are back again with me too ..

I installed the W8 version of BD but the false notifications are stille there...

  • Hi, Windows 8 Pro 64Bit user here....Still getting the action center messages every time I login.....I have uninstalled, re-installed, repaired, patched......Still the same....Serioulsy considering moving to a different product....This is hopeless & leaves me with no faith in the product.

A proper official response would be appreciated on this issue. Bitdefender needs to restore customers confidence.

  • Two days ago I had a system crash.

Refreshed w8 and installed all software including BD again.

The false notifications are gone now...

  • Hi All

See attached pictures. Action Center report this issue.

    1) Comment on "Action Center" picture.

    2) Comment on "Bitfender 1" picture.

This happens now quit often. One picture tells me all is ok and the win8 "action center" tells me the opposite.

  • @iyengar

I'm also trying to figure why I get these messages.

I followed their instruction how to install but?

This is why I'm on the forum to find out if their are other user that have the same problem.

Now it seems Bitfender is not replying to the for mites.

All I can tell I disabled Windows Firewall under the services. The so called installation should have taken care of thinks like this?

I don't now who test Bitfender software? They might call themselves number 1 or What?

  • Hello,

  • Hello,

    This is a known issue.

You can turn off Windows Firewall & Windows Defender under Control Panel or Action Center. Do not stop Firewall service.

You can also disable those kind of messages, opening "Action Center/Change action Center settings" till issue is fixed.

If BitDefender's main window shows that you are protected, then you are protected.

    @werby3

Shame on bitfender not fixing the issue.

I also found a description under the help button.

See attached cure which also does not work.

What I also found that Bitfender AV switches on its own between "Custom Profile" and "Auto Pilot".

Last question are we Beta tester or even Alfa. You pay good money for what?

It's just my opinion about the same issue posted in different threads:

Windows Security Center does not recognize BitDefender AV.

I truly believe that it is the MICROSOFT problem, not BitDefender's. And the issue is probably related to some software verification/certification conflicts on the Microsoft side, at least on Windows 8 systems.

The issue occurred today for so many users of BD, including myself. After rebooting three times, the issue was resolved.

I'm a big fan of BitDefender.

  • Windows 8 Pro action Center keeps reporting Bitdefender 2013 antivirus not turned on or out of date when it is turned on and up to date.

    Hi Railroader :)

That is a known glitch that Bitdefender techs know about. As you correctly surmised, trust the Bitdefender console to tell you all is "green" and functioning properly: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=39476

Some have found to do a PC restart a couple of times, refreshed the communication between Action Center, and Bitdefender:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=170714

If needed, you can change the Action Center Settings of what to be notified of until a permanent fix sent out in an update, or new build.

    Kind regards,

    Columbo

  • Hi bros but i solve the problem first install all Windows updates, now Microsoft releses one update very heavy and i dont percate it, now i install all updates configure Outlook Messenger and skype, and all my trusted apps from Microsoft, affter i download bdwindows 8 security from the e mail of my purchase desactivate Windows defender and Windows firewall, affter i use msconfig and disable the printer center and another entrys who slow the system. Install bitdefender and affter reestart, the action center dont work, reestart three times and it Works now and the post reestarts, affter desdragment the harddrive whith defflager and all Works fine thank you for your help i hope my contribution helps to you

  • @indie

I have been looking at this problem since installation.

You get it fixed but a few day's later problem is back. Even if you tell Win8 the program is reputable.

I know Microsoft is stiff with driver or program support.

If no creditation is done Microsoft does not approve in running such application.

That is why Microsoft is doing a big drive on APPS development etc.

    Kind regards

  • Same problem here - purchased BitDefender back in October, encountered and reported this same issue in another separate thread, and that thread was closed with a link directing me here. And so here I am several months later looking for a solution and see more links asking us to check other threads. Just sayin' ....

Using Bitdefender Total Security. Paying BD customer since 2012

  • Forgot to mention (in case it matters) - I'm still using the same Windows 7 computer that I installed BD on and purchased the license for back in October.

Those of us who have been experiencing this problem for over a month with no resolution are really happy for you, but not too happy for ourselves, and I, for one, am getting really frustrated. I have done multiple repairs, repository verify and reset, and prayed a lot, but I still cannot be certain my computer is protected. Your support center has offered to extend my subscription. I'll decline that offer. Why would I want to extend the subscription for a product that does not work? Your post seems pretty cavilier. Do you think there is not a problem and some of us are just stupid and don't hold out mouth right?

Thanks for the kind words in the 1st part of your post :)

Apologies Jim, as I didn't mean for it to come across that way. I may have been just a little to giddy (and premature) in my "all systems are go" comment. At times I do it for those behind the scenes, like the techs and Christian, to encourage them, and also so they have some feedback on the success or need for follow up and continue work on an issue. It was also a way to confirm to others that maybe the Windows 8 version of Bitdefender is a little more responsive to the fixes/updates on that OS and that version of BD. I know that leaves out the 2013 Total Security people, who, without losing some of the features they like, would have to downgrade to BD W8 for a possibly more responsive version.

Again, apologies, I hope this gets worked out for all involved.

    Kind regards,

Your apology is accepted, and I'll offer my own for being a little thin skinned and totally frustrated. But, I'm happy to report that I resolved the problem I had. The support center asked me to download the eicar thing to make sure BD was working (it was), and to do a repair from Windows Programs, which I had done several times already, and did again. After Restart, I still had the error. I downloaded the uninstall tool and the latest TS release. I uninstalled, and installed the new release. When I put in my license key, BD seemed to be confused about which product and would not accepet the valid key I had. I just eneded the install, opened BD, and told it I wanted to register the product. I put in my license kay, and BD said that was for a different product, and did I want to upgrade to the TS product. I said, "sure", and it did a little delete/install dance and accepted my key. Now the red flag as gone, and I can enjoy Baltimore beating San Fan in the Super Bowl this afternoon. Thanks for letting me vent.

  • Thanks for your post, Jim, no problem, as I've been there before, and will again sometime in the future ^_^ That was allot of song and dance to just Windows to recolonize BD, yikes. Hopefully future updates in and of themselves will work out issues more easily than having to do so much user intervention

Can't agree with you more, go Ravens :D Enjoy the game, hope it's a good one.
