Windows 8 Doesn't Have The Right Click "scan With Bitdefender" Option?
Hi there,
It's explained here that there should be a way to right click on a file or a folder and then select "Scan with Bitdefender", but I don't seem to have this.
Is there a way I can activate this? I really need this option, as going into Custom Scan every time takes a lot of time.
Kind Regards,
M

Hello, and welcome
Try running a repair, and seeing if that helps: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-...ows-8-1053.html
Just curious, did you previously have another AV installed before installing Bitdefender Total Security? Just in case the above doesn't work, we may have to go to a plan B option. (using uninstall tools, and re-installing)
Kind regards,

Also in doing a little more research, it seems you have a number of additional add on software that could have corrupted the proper install of the BD right click options?
I would consider uninstalling both of the TuneUp utilities, especially since BD has it's own file shredder, and thus both of those would be overlapping, and maybe reinstalling Space Explorer later. Maybe also Sandboxie for now, until we get BD squared away with and running properly.
Just a thought, others here may have a second opinion on this too.0 -
Hi there Columbo,
I managed to fix the problem. It's defiantly a bug somewhere in Bitdefender.
I did as you told me and I uninstalled my Sandboxie and Tune-Up Utilities. I rebooted and then did a Repair after that. When the repair was complete, the option appeared to scan files and folders in the right click dropdown. However, I ran into a bit of a pickle getting my internet to work again after that. After the repair was done, my computer refused to go into any website and was also unable to update Bitdefender. I uninstalled Bitdefender completely and that resolved the problem.
After the uninstall, I inserted my CD, which I bought today, back into my computer and reinstalled bitdefender from scratch. When the installation was done, the option for the Scan was GONE again... When I ran the repair again, it reappeared and my internet started to work again.
I tried looking for a version number on the installation CD, but it doesn't seem to be visible anywhere.
Anyway, thank you so much for all your help. This is the first time I'm using bitdefender and I'm quite happy with the results thus far.
Kind Regards,

Oh yeah and to answer your previous question, I did have Kaspersky 2013 installed previously, but it bugged out with Windows 8. So I decided to try something else.

Thank you for your reply back. After a bit of work, I'm glad to hear you're up and running. Thank you for trying my suggestions
I had asked about a previous AV, as Bitdefender is very temperamental of any remnants of previous AV, and thus was going to suggest using their uninstall tool, and then looking for any leftover files etc. in the usual places.
As you may know this, but just in case for future reference http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35499
If you need anything else, please let us know
