Direct Download Links Problem

Hi BitDefender,

I've purchased the 3 PC Anti-Virus Plus software online this past week. I've installed my first license on my brand new computer running Windows 7 without a problem.

Then I tried to install my 2nd license onto my older PC running Windows XP with Service Pack 3, that's where the trouble begins.

I've uninstalled all my existing anit-virus and anti-spyware software. First time I set it up, I was using the link that was provided when I purchased the software. I guess with this file, it grabs the rest of the installation files via online by download. Upon downloading, it gave me a download internet connection error midway, and installation wasn't successful.

Tried re-installing BitDefender Anti-Virus Plus again, and again, and again, and I still get the same error midway. Sometimes it'll throw the error message at 40%, 50%, 60% during download....installation was never successful.

So I searched online did all the suggested fix which still wouldn't work, and then I found this forum where I found your offline download link.

My Windows XP uses your "32b" file, so when I tried to download the file via your PINNED link, the download file would mark "Finished" midway, but the entire file wasn't even close to finish downloading. For example, your file is 346MB in size, but it would abort when it reaches 80MB, 90MB, and the most I can get is 144MB.

I thought it was my internet connection problem, so I tried downloading huge files (500MB+), and I never experienced a problem.

So I think your download link is busted... please check the link to make sure it works properly, thanks.

For sh!t and giggles, I tried downloading your "64b" file, and it would fully download the file without a hitch.

I have purchased the software and now I can't use it. It's starting to ###### me off that such a simple anti-virus software can waste so much of my time. Totally unacceptable....

Please instruct.

Well, I just tried out your link now, and it downloaded completely without any problems. What web browser are you using? I'm using Internet Explorer 11, and like I said, I downloaded the file perfectly and completely (all 353 MBs [and yes, Internet Explorer originally reported the file as a 346 MB file as well]).

Another thing to keep in mind is your internet connection. The especially applies if your computer happens to be a laptop, and you are using WiFi. Sure, you might have a constant connection to the internet, but even if the signal is fair (3 bars or less), that could cause interruptions in downloads.

Also, Windows XP doesn't have to be supported by anyone anymore in about a month (although I'm sure Bitdefender will probably continue to support Windows XP for at least a little while after the cutoff date). That means few, if any, companies will actually build their software to run on Windows XP anymore. If you think the hardware on your old computer is salvageable enough, just upgrade it to Windows 7.

Besides, not even Bitdefender will be able to protect your computer from the wave of hackers, viruses, malware, and spyware that will be able to exploit any new security vulnerabilities found in the Windows XP architecture (and there was a national news story just recently about that very thing. The HUGE security vulnerability for Windows XP was patched by Microsoft recently, but Microsoft stated that would be the last one after April). So again, upgrading would be the best thing to do. ^_^

Finally, if you really think it is a problem from Bitdefender's end, then contacting Bitdefender directly would be your best shot in getting this issue solved. You can open an email ticket with Customer Support here (but like I said, I didn't have any problems; so it may not be Bitdefender's fault):

Well, good luck! And if you reach any solutions, please post back. That way, anyone else that might have this problem might also get it fixed without having to write another post or contact support themselves. :)
