Hi :-)

I run on Auto Pilot. Usually it shows Standard profile. This afternoon, approx 3:00PM it's stuck on Game Profile. Also, my Windows Firewall was on and My Windows Update settings had been changed to Never Check For Updates.

    HI hawki,

You use the past tense... so everything is back to normal, or not?

Which is the computer you use? (in a previous topic, you talk about two (or more) computers...)

Did you try to repair Bitdefender?

    Hiya,

I don't use profiles, I find them a bit of a pain. Go into the Bitdefender GUI, Tools, Profiles and uncheck "Let Autopilot Manage My Profiles". In the Game profile make sure that the "Postpone Windows Automatic Updates" is unchecked.

I guess my context is bad. No this remains an issue. My profile is still stuck on game. I shut off Windows firewall and it has remained shut; I reset my Windows Update settings and on the first attempt they went back to do not check. On the second attempt the Update seting remained OK. My power setting is at balanced.

This is something totally new. Did not exist this AM.

I have had too many problems with My Bitdefender and expired licenses that were not expired to mess around with a repair ATM.

Not a good PC day for me. An hour ago someone tried to scam me with the "eventvwr" scam. Said he was from Iolo and that System Mechanic was reporting my network security was turned off. I almost fell for it, but Googled "eventvwr" and the first two pages of results were "eventvwr Scam."

You could find some general information on profiles there:

    profiles

    Follow Rohugh's advice.

My family do not use these gimmicks (profiles, game...) but I can't compare systems, so I can't be more precise.

However, it is not the first topic where you talk about problems. Maybe you'd better check your system

    too. Or repair BD.

Edit OK you edit first... Yes, you'd better check your system. (windows, file systems, and so on...).

Did you launch a depth analysis with BD? no malware?

Real time optimization is a plug-in to improve system performance, making sure you are not interrupted whilst in a profile. It can also monitor your CPU load and adjusting it.

I never bother with it. :P

As you point out, it is useless to have the best AV in the world (I do not claim BD is the best ^_^ ) if we fall to social engineering and scam lures... caution is the first firewall.

Besides, I do not recommend installing such softwares as System Mechanic or else. It takes a part of the memory with its load of utilities, most of them being useless. Sometimes we click too fast and install PUPs, adwares that are not fully destructive but hamper the system at least.

    Excellent ! :)

    A few tips hawki to clean your system: Seven stations;

    1) chkdsk

    2) SFC System System File Checker

    3) Fix it

    4) Revo uninstaller to plug off every softwares you no longer use...

    5) Ccleaner (do not touch the registry!)

    6) Defraggler (twice a year, seldom useful to do more...)

    7) rescue disk to check in depth to get rid of malwares...

Ok it's a long and tedious job (for the computer) but you should have a cleaner and more stable machine.

  • Sorry I can't help with your problem. I had the same issue. I closed program after another from the taskbar and I found out Evernote interferes with BD. It would be good to have blacklist for every profile so these issues could be avoided... It's not the first time I've had this. It's pretty annoying.

  • This is affecting me too. There needs to be a blacklist or a mode where profiles still activate automatically, but without the BD guesses and only based on the list we specify.

While this is somewhat useful information to the uninitiated, it's completely irrelevant to the issue being discussed. The solution to the profile function being broken is not to "clean your system" and thereby supposedly make it run faster. The solution is for BD to update the profile functionality so that it works as intended.

Other things being mentioned above, aside from disabling the feature (not a solution), include disabling real-time optimization and the postponing windows updates. These are exactly the features I want to use... I'd guess none of you are running Windows 10, or you might be more appreciate of the value these features could provide. Automatic Windows updates can be very disruptive, especially for those of us with less than stellar hardware or a slow internet connection.

  • Crowda yes I am using windows 10 and i find those features very useful.

Why not schedule windows update when you are not using your PC? That way windows is up to date, and you still have good user experience even with slow internet connection/low hardware...  default_happy.png
