Bitdefender Box Specs

I was looking into the Box, but it seems the specs are super weak. Today's network must provide 5GHz + gigabit bandwidth. I'm really liking the specs of the Norton Core.

What is a 'Total Security subscription'? Is it simply Total Security suite, or is it completely different?

    Thanks for the product comparison.

What about the weak Box specs? Many of my devices have been well beyond 100Mbps for several years. Not to mention, using 5GHz frequency.

    Hi,

The Bitdefender BOX is equipped with two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports which means that in most cases the network throughput is limited to 100 Mbps. The latest BOX firmware has been optimized so that the download speed is no longer limited by our hardware if the BOX is set up as a network companion device, connected to a router. In this scenario, the download speed should reach the same values as before installing the BOX in your network. On the other hand, the upload speed can only go up to 100 Mbps due to the hardware limitations on the BOX. The download speed has only been optimized for one type of setup, when the BOX is set up as a network companion device. Unfortunately, BOX units that are configured with an Apple Airport or are configured as standalone routers will still have the throughput limited to up to 100 Mbps due to hardware limitations.

By the end of the year we will be releasing a new version of BOX that will be capable of 1 Gbps and will also be able to broadcast a 5 GHz WiFi network.

  • As I don't think it does not presently exist, will BD offer a firmware service, whereby we simply flash an app to a compatible router?
