Any way to kill the firewall when it goes on its infinite 'allow' loop?

This keeps happening once in a while, where some file will update like GoogleDrive and the firewall 'do you want to allow this' just goes Nuts. I've been fast-clicking 'Allow' for close to 20 min now, I tried turning off the firewall in the Bitdefender settings (and then back on), changed settings to home office instead of dynamic (but did it after the latest popup), tried killing bitdefender in the Win 10 taskbar, it just won't stop. And it is covering up stuff behind it. And is driving me bugnuts, every time it happens, and I'm really tired of restarting my computer to deal with a pop-up... Please tell me there's a kill button for this popup (and/or the firewall) once it spins up?

    Hello.

I have Google Drive installed on my laptop and i also do file syncing on a daily basis. And never had any problems and/or pop-up notifications while using it. I also have "Dynamic" selected as a network type.

So, it could be a bug with Windows 10.

    Anyway, do the following steps:

    -- STEP 1 --

Repair Bitdefender, by following these steps:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/13429/

    -- STEP 2 --

If the instructions from Step 1 didn't help, uninstall the Bitdefender program using the Uninstall Tool:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/links/uninstall_consumer_paid.html

It will completely remove the program.

Next, reinstall Bitdefender from your Bitdefender Central account and see if the issue has been solved, as reinstalling the program usually solves the issues.

    -- STEP 3 --

If the instructions from Step 2 didn't help, follow the instructions in this step.

First, take screenshot(s) of the issue

and create a log file on your Windows device using Bitdefender Support Tool, by following these steps:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1733/

Next, contact Bitdefender Consumer Support by e-mail:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/

with short description of the issue.

After that, you will get an automated reply by the Bitdefender Customer Care Team, with your ticket number.

Now, in reply to that automated reply, you can send the screenshot(s) you already took and the log file you already created in the first step.

Since you are all done, just wait for the support engineers to investigate your issue and find a solution to fix the issue.

Remember that the screenshot(s) and the log file will help a lot to the support engineers for better and faster investigation on your issue and finding a solution.

    Regards.

  • Ufff... both those steps require a computer restart which is what I was trying to avoid. I just wanted a way to kill the annoying pop-up window without having to restart my computer to do so. I'll go through it anyway and just leave bitdefender off until such a time as I'm done w/ my work and its safe to restart. At least for now the stupid popup is gone, even if I'm left w/o a Firewall for a while.

And yea, its not a google-drive thing, its a bitdefender thing, it happens with a ton of apps - googledrive, dropbox, various microsoft services, etc.

Dear Bitdefender engineers, if you're listening, please just make a proper 'off' button that kills the service so I can restart it safely when things go wrong. 'Uninstall and then Reinstall' is not the right level of dealing with things going wrong in software.

    Anyway, thank you
