Short And Sweet

My experience so far. Not good.

I got the free version of Virus checker to try. Installed it and it did a scan. I was impressed as it found some viruses. shut down my computer. When I rebooted the license had expired. Key no longer valid, computer at risk! Within an hour, mind you.

Thought to myself, maybe that is the demo, so I bought a copy. (Good marketing ploy), Installed, and it did another scan. No problems found. I thought great! Shut down.

Rebooted about an hour later.

This version I paid for had expired as well! Key invalid, despite the fact that my account info shows both the Free version and paid for version with 364 days left and I copied and pasted the Keys directly from there.

I figure I should have enjoyed the free year, which lasted an hour, and definitely enjoyed my paid year, which lasted about as long. What do you think?

  • Can you tell us what version of BitDefender you have installed, exactly?

The icon says Bitdefender 2008. It was the least expensive one.

I did install the free one, which did one scan and then said it had expired.

Side note: I have tried to phone and have lost confidence in the 24/7 support, as all I get is an answer phone message on the UK number.

Here is a link to the one I purchased. Hope this helps.

Best thing to do is what kungfu said. I think try repairing it first rather than un-install and then enter your assigned key and it should work.

  • OK, that appears to have worked. I reinstalled and for the moment, it works. Thank you for your suggestions.

The disconcerting thing is that it was up and running before, but then just announced that it had expired and my computer was at risk within an hour. Someone should really look into that, as most people, I guess, would not buy a copy if a trial version expired in an hour, and most would be on edge if they did further buy a copy, like I did, and had that paid for copy expire in as short a time. Something is wrong here. Can anyone blame me for wondering if this might expire any minute now?

Anyway, thanks for your help. After numerous emails on all the proper forms, and leaving my number on the phone UK line, this is the first help I've received, and I am grateful.

  • I have the same problem! :-(
