All I can tell you is that I have never experienced these dots myself nor have I ever seen them mentioned in the forums or elsewhere. Did the appearance of the dots coincide with the installation of Bitdefender? If you delete the shortcut icons and then recreate them, do the dots come back? Wish I could be of more help but…
