  • In the mean time, no one can shed any light on the implications of using the LAN in Trusted mode instead of Home/Office mode, as asked in http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=59324
  • Go into Protection-Firewall-Adapters and change the Network Type to Trusted. That is the only workaround until they fix this. I have no idea what other ramifications are for this change.
  • What should the ideal settings for Firewall be after the fix is pushed?
  • The problem is back. I have to set the adapter to trusted to access File and Printer shares. I have recently updated my NIC driver (Intel Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V) to default settings and rebooted. That might have affected this behavior... Back to Windows Firewall .. (Hate to see AutoPilot unhappy
  • That did not help. However, I see a pattern. This is on a Windows 10 64 bit system Restarted the pc under a Admin account I uninstalled using BD uninstaller tool. Restarted the pc under a Admin account Installed BDTS, registered and updated it. I can change settings Restarted PC under a "Normal user" account. I prefer to…
  • Hmm. Seems to be working now. Even with the adapter set to Home/Office, stealth mode: on and generic: off Build 18.23.0.1604 Signature 5919070 Engine 7.61947 I don't know if something was updated recently. I wish I had noted the version earlier (when it wasn't).
  • Same here! This is a recent change and should be fixed by an update from BD. I get the LAN resources (NAS, shared printers etc) back if I I change the Network Type in the Adapters tab of the Firewall settings to "Trusted". Is this an acceptable workaround? Does it open my system to vulnerabilities? For now, I have disabled…
  • That is exactly what is not working. The mouse shape does not change when over that text and clicking there does nothing.
  • Thanks. For some reason I remember this as being available with a right-click of the icon in the system tray. Maybe that was for an earlier version of BD... This is good too.
  • Does not apply to BDTS 2015 user interface.
  • AFAIK by default when you install BD 2015 it sets up a Quick Scan, every two days and System Scan, once a week. You can modify the default scans or set up your own Custom Scan When these scans are going on, how do I monitor the progress and pause/stop the scan?
  • One can configure QuickScan to run periodically. See attached image (strangely, everything is "greyed out". I can't actually do anything in that dialog box!!) Back to my question: Whenever BDTS is running a scan on it's own terms (ie, I did not initiate the scan manually), how does one see the progress of that scan and…
  • You mean BD2015 does scanning only on demand? Even on AutoPilot mode? My event log shows many QuickScans that I did not initiate. Scanning in the background when the computer is idle is a good feature, IMO. Are you sure that is now gone? The symbol for auto-update is different (two circular arrows in the center of the…
  • Has this finally been fixed? I'm now not getting (famous last words) this error anymore. It stays turned off and does not suddenly just start again. Started doing this yesterday/today I think.. can't find where "update" section is to confirm if anything has changed. The problem has gone away for me as well.
  • Add me to the list of people having Certificate errors in Firefox (my default browser). www.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer) I disabled "Scan SSL" in BDTS 2015 and the problem seemed to go away for a…
  • ... But the basic security and detection rates are the same. The difference is made by the new features and improvements. ... Thanks for the reply and clarification. Good to know. I will wait a few update cycles for the issues w the 2015 version to get worked out. I'm in no hurry, as I have a 3 yr license and the…
  • Should BDTS2014 be uninstalled first as a separate step? Or will the BDTS2015 installer take care of this?
in Bdis 2015 Comment by alokep July 2014
  • ... The license info should be retained. ( but then you should always have a backup of your license. ) ... How do I backup my license electronically? Do you mean save the box that the product came in? That has the registration code.
  • Will users of BDTS 2014 17.28.0.1191 get the 2015 version through automatic update? Assuming that we are still within the 3 (or 5) years license? If not, does the 2014 version need to be uninstalled before installing the 2015 version? If Yes, then will the license information get transferred automatically to the 2015…
  • How much of that functionality is built into the Bitdefender Total Security and other mainstream products? Should I need to run it when I am already using BDTS?
  • Would such installation errors get detected by testing with the EICAR file? I wonder how many of us are happy and oblivious that their systems may not be protected.
  • I didn't ask tech support because my question was not specific to a problem I was having. It was more generic, like finding out the different pro and cons in running BD in various modes: GUI, safe mode, rescue mode, rescue disk. I figured others here would know, and maybe the BD folks would post some information,…
  • Clearly, it is changing the boot sector (and the partition tables?) of the drive to give you the multiboot option and then, if everything works correctly, restores the boot sector. The question is: what happens if something goes wrong, the program locks up, BSOD, whatever.. and the program does not clean up after itself?…
  • This is about Rootkit Remover http://labs.bitdefender.com/projects/rootk...ootkit-remover/ How much of that functionality is built into the Bitdefender Total Security and other mainstream products? This thread is generating more and more questions ....
  • I don't think any answers are forthcoming. Aloke
  • No, other ZIP files are OK. I got this email from BD in response to a follow-up survey: ---- Thank you for taking the time to complete our online survey. Your feedback is highly appreciated and will help us improve both our products as well as our services. Please note that the sample you sent was received and is currently…
  • Thanks to all. If I may re-phrase columbo's question and broaden it a bit: What are the relative merits/capabilities/limitations of scanning in these 4 methods for malaware detection in general and rootkits in specific for Windows 7 and Windows 8 (are the answers different?): 1. Invoking Rescue mode in BD 2. Booting into…
  • colombo, Thanks for your detailed replies. Thanks to others as well. I have BD Total Security. I can't see the settings page the way you posted the screenshots. Is that level of customization available for BDTS? By safe mode scan do you mean starting Windows 7 in safe mode and running odscanui.exe? Also, whats your opinion…
