yeah i was thinking the same thing.. about the missing instructions. Nice though that you guys finally sent a mail... you should do it more often ( gives a pro feeling) - you can send important notes about new threats or does this mailing service already exist?

@BitDee The update that caused the issue remained on the BitDefender update servers for only 75 minutes and then it was removed. I takes some time for all the servers to synchronize which means that on some servers the update was available later and on others sooner. This is also the case for the removal of the update…

Hey sub when you're done doing all of this for yourself why don't you volunteer to do it for the folks that are not as PC savvy as you...people who respond like this are as clueless as I dunno...let's say the 80% population of PC users that just want to point and click. I can't imagine all the end users that never go to a…

Yes it is safe.. I reinstalled it and scanned my whole system aprox. 10 hours. And all is fine. woot woot The last update also restored my deleted dll.s, but alot of programs were damaged, so everything is good after a fresh reinstall or repair with the program cd.

What will the compensation be... BD deleted alot of my programs i had to reinstalled 75 % of my programs. My printer driver right now will not install.. am having a headache to make it work. Ohh well hope BD will offer something good for this..

DannyDan, Thanks for clearing this up, " Yes, if you uninstall / reinstall BD then all quarantined files will be deleted with the uninstall process. " In other words, after bitdefender stops working due to flagging itself as a virus, if you try to re-install, you are recommended by the software to uninstall, then…

Is it possible to copy the quarantine files from the corrupted Bitdefender.. Reinstall and Recopy the quarantine files to the correct…

@BitDee: The error you posted is related to BitDefender only. If your Operating System is working properly it's safe to repair / reinstall BitDefender. I did not understood to what missing drivers are you referring to so please provide me with more details - if possible screenshots of the error messages you receive.…

Okay i manage to make my OS boot again. I copied the drivers from a working system32 folder to my Damaged OS and did multiple Repairs. In SAFE mode i tried the patch, but i get an error and the installation stops. I can not run Bitdefender either, it is as if it has deleted some of its own components. What can i do to fix…

By that logic, why don't throw in a class-action lawsuit against all virus programmers who cause even greater "havoc" around the world, every single day, eh? Since you are so eager to pay your lawyers to sue hardworking people, why don't you also spend your money suing the ones that create the need for anti-virus in the…

Yep, I suggested BD makes a patch that can be copied to a bootable CD or USB stick and run from the command line. I am sorry to see their patch still requires Windows, basically making it useless for many customers who either can't start Windows or can't start the graphic user interface. If they manage to do it without the…

This resembles more and more a 2012 ******. People trying to warm each other up, others eating their fellows when running out of food, leaders rising. I'm sorry, I know this sounds wrong, but I just can't help seeing the funny side of this situation. I could definitely see a South Park or Simpsons episode only based on…

That's because the system files were in the quarantine and turning the clock back didn't recover all of the missing files. My System32 folder was also wiped out and inaccessible. The only way to have gotten those back was to remove them from quarantine. If the "Last KNown Good Configuration" doesn't work, which I'm sure it…

i read that some dude mentioned that the Bitdefender was deleting files of other partitions.. that made me worry alot. So i check the log with the deleted/quarantined files listed called history. here's the directory: X:\ProgramData\BitDefender\Desktop\Events Change X with the letter of ur operating system with BD. I…

The system files are not deleted, just moved to the quarantine folder. So if the patch is able to roll back all quarantined files, your system should be fine. There was one case in this thread where a user got a corrupted boot.ini file, but that was an exception. BD should try being smarter: If many legit files seem to be…

Update from Bitdefender's Twitter: "this is taking a bit longer than expected - we are testing it right now." Once you've turned off the virus scanner and ran the update, turn the scanner back on. Then, until the patch comes out, you need to go through the painful process of going to the Quarantine list and trying to…

Hello BitDee, Yes, we recommended you to use the Rescue CD in order to boot from the CD and backup your files. Unfortunately, you can use the patch only if Windows starts in Normal mode. The patch will be able to restore the files quarantined by BitDefender but it cannot restore the deleted ones. Okay that is clear. Is it…

Well, what a day. I really thought I had a real virus and then searching the internet gave not results whatsoever on how to get rid of it so I thought, well there has to be something wrong here. BD has seriously messed this one up. Luckyly I do a GHOST (image backup of the whole drive) with Norton Ghost of my C: drive…

Hello BitDee, If you cannot boot your computer in Safe Mode please access this article in order to create a BitDefender Rescue CD. Use this link to see how you can save all the important files to a memory stick using the Bitdefender Rescue CD. Use a Windows CD in order to make a System Restore or Startup repair. You can…

I'm waiting for the patch, but bitdefender quarantined msiexec.exe, so I'm not even sure if it will work. I'd love to get my computer back in working shape. It seems I'd be able to do so if I repaired or reinstalled bitdefender, but since msiexec.exe was quarantined I can do no such thing. I also can't restore the objects…

On FaceBook, ten minutes ago: "BitDefender Global eta to patch should be roughly 45 min - patch is for bootable and non bootable 64 bit systems for Windows 7 and Vista... XP users should contact support" Can someone verify i can fix my Windows with deleted system files with this patch?
-
Press F8 when selecting the OS. You should then be able to select Safe Mode from a list. I cannot even run Safe Mode.

Solutions for people who cannot boot I have decided to go ahead and remove my hard drive and use a dock and connect it to my Netbook and recover my personal data (400+ GB of data) I guess reformatting is my only option. I see 2 options for everyone who cannot boot 1. Backup your data like I am or take it to a local…

Is there a way to fix my OS even if i cannot boot in it? Windows Repair wont work it tries to restore the files, ( i did it 5 to 6 times) rebooted and launched the repair again till i finally got an error from microsoft that there are too much error to fix the problem. Just like that dude mentioned before, how can we fix…

Yeah im not happy about this either. Ive just bought a 2 year subscription, but i don't feel "safe" to use it again. I mean this is pretty messed up. Is Bitdefender going to give a refund or something to compensate the loss.. Even if they release a patch to update the BD, it will be useless because my Windows wont even…

Tried what sfd suggested, but the system restore doesnt work either with a repair disc. Tried doing a fix several times, but my windows still wont boot. Alot of important .dll have been deleted.
-
I, like everyone else am disappointed with the situation but as the twitter feed suggests a resolution is on its way and that a full detailed explanation of a fix will be posted on the forum as soon as possible. However hard it is we must be patient no matter how angry and frustrated we are. Agreed. But darn man this is a…
