I have just received the update to version 1.0.11.7 which seems to have resolved the SSL-issue.

Indeed, after a restart this morning an update must have been applied automatically. Services run fine now, no manual reinstall had been necessary.

So an update to 1.0.10.12 seems to have resolved the issue:
