  • Thanks for the feature requests, Cristi. I still think the reboot situation is not final and unsolvable, there is always room for improvement, including for #5, so I'll leave you these last words for the product team before you close the thread: Bitdefender is already out of phase in Windows 7, with the number of Windows…
  • I was even starting to wonder if these events were even legit, but it seems they are, only the time stamp is wrong: I got this event when I rebooted at 8:30AM, after leaving the computer on for a day or two, so I guess Autoscan had time to scan the whole system at least once. But there was no such event when I rebooted 20…
  • The first part looks like the same thing on my earlier thread. Not nearly for as long as in your case, more like 20 minutes, and even then, it's a rare event, unusual when I'm at the computer. I assume you have enabled Autoscan. It's supposed to run when there are enough resources available, maybe Bitdefender could shed a…
  • @Dragonheart You can install Bitdefender IS 2011 with your current license. Download links are in the 2011 forum.
  • @Unhappy Camper: We'll see in a few days if the warning about the manual scan disappears when Autoscan is enabled, although I don't know how it works for IS 2012, as I am using Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012. As for the Autoscan getting constantly on and off even when it's been enabled, check this thread to reduce the…
  • Still no answer 9 days later. FYI, the game in question is the Doom II. No big deal since it's an old game, but it's worrisome that the Automatic game mode seems to be on even when it's disabled. See the corresponding event in history.xml: <event bodyLength="138" evflags="0" type="0" timeStamp="1322454634"…
  • @mitza97 Unfortunately Auto Pilot on/off does not remove these Game Mode/Autoscan red alerts for screensavers. It worked for VLC Media Player, but I had to disable the screensaver for these alerts. It's a shame customers can't use this most basic energy-saving (i.e. costly) Windows feature. Such known full screen routine…
  • Resetting the toolbar before opening the browser won't make it disappear if you've set your browser to display the previous session. You'll need to refresh/reload the tabs in that case to make it disappear, so you can reset the toolbar even if the browser is running.
  • If you change the date manually, you need of course to stop time synchronization in the Date and Time Control Panel or altogether disconnect the computer from the Internet or your intranet's time server, or it will be reset instantly.
  • The first part seems incorrect, the alert was always orange, see my screenshot in the first August 11th post of this thread. So I hope they got the second part right. I'll wait 2 weeks instead of 1 to see if it repros. That's a long time to wait for a confirmation, have you guys tried it on a machine changing the date…
  • Thanks, Cristi. Ignore #3, I checked that after rebooting, these alerts were set to "read".
  • The toolbar does not protect you in the least. As I understand, it is there mostly for antispam purpose, but even then, only if you use specific 3-4 email clients such as Mozilla Thunderbird. Both my personal and professional emails already include antispam, so I don't need this Bitdefender module. And it's more than a…
  • Cristi, as previously requested, do not ask customers to test updates you haven't tested yourself. This is easy enough to repro, so it is not professional and a huge waste of my time. This update 15.0.34.1437 has strictly no effect, the toolbar reappears after every reboot. I don't even know what this cryptic…
  • Cool, thanks, Cristi. That would be a fantastic improvement and put back Bitdefender in the lead. It used to be highly praised in the media till 2011, but I currently cannot recommend the 2012 version to anybody. Hope all the few remaining major issues can be fixed quickly before some new antivirus compared review is…
  • Thanks, Cristi. Well if Autoscan was using the On-access scanning mode set by the user, and if it was set to Aggressive (which I have been using before), users wouldn't experience any slow down because Autoscan is supposed to run only when enough resources are available. The section about Autoscan in the link is the same…
  • So did I until 2 days ago. I try to run Bitdefender as per default settings to be as close as possible as what Bitdefender recommends, and I liked the idea of letting the more security-aware and qualified Bitdefender take decisions for me. I mean, if Bitdefender 2012 gets this Auto Pilot thing working right, this would…
  • I know Auto Pilot enables automatically the toolbar, that's why I could not use it. But while investigating the VLC Game mode/Autoscan event bug, I noticed that you could disable the toolbar after enabling Auto Pilot, and Auto Pilot does not complain or resets the toolbar. I don't even know why the toolbar is automatically…
  • Sorry if was not clear, I know Autoscan has nothing to do with real time protection, I was asking if Autoscan is using the same protection level as is defined in the On-access scanning settings during its cyclic run, or if it's using some sort of hard-coded list of settings. For instance, if I change my default scanning…
  • Bring it on, 10GB, 0.33% of my system drive... ^-^ Never mind, most of the time vsserv.exe sleeps at 0% of CPU usage, and when it does run to 3-12% (or even 41%) for an hour or more at a time (no way to know without logs), which happens several times a day, it usually does so silently, even with disk activity. It is…
  • Just punting to make sure this is still in the radar. I am pretty sure the devs are busy working on many more bugs. Feel free to comment on this thread if things are not clear enough, or to involve us for beta-testing the fix before releasing. In summary: - Confirm that Autoscan provides the same protection level as the…
  • Hi Cristi, any ETA for the reboot bug? Can the devs also add and check the following test case to this bug before releasing the fix: - Enable Auto Pilot - Disable the toolbar - Reboot - Check that Auto Pilot is still enabled with the toolbar disabled I didn't use Auto Pilot before, so I didn't think of this test case, but…
  • As I mentioned earlier, it looks like Auto Pilot gets rid of the bug, but I'll do as Gary did and disable the automatic game mode to be double-sure since it's not working as expected and even Bitdefender people disable it. It's ludicrous that media players and other full screen apps are considered by Bitdefender as games,…
  • Well I switched back to v. 2012 because the v. 2011 schedule screwed up again, so I can't repro if the Game mode causes this bug systematically, but there are other known causes, such as shutting down the computer overnight and interrupting manually the running scan the next morning, or maybe just one of these is even…
  • Gary, it's the Game Mode you turn on, not the Automatic Game Mode, which you have disabled permanently in the General setting. Cristi, I am totally disappointed in Bitdefender. VLC, Powerpoint and screensavers are not game. I need to stay protected at all times when I am running apps that are not listed "in the Smart Cache…
  • Hi Cristi, I don't mean just when idle, I said when I am typing a document or browsing the web. I might be accessing a few dozen bitmaps and other Internet cache files at the time, if that much. But vsserv.exe is scanning tens of thousands of files during the 10-15 minutes it's running high, while I use the computer. Why…
  • Yes, but running the exact same programs and Internet browsing pattern rarely generates this kind of disk activity. It seems to happen very rarely, vsserv.exe usually takes 0-3% of the CPU usage with no noticeable disk activity. By coincidence, it's doing it again while I am answering this thread... I am not asking for a…
  • Note that this bug was supposed to be fixed in 15.0.33.1409. I am only reporting about it again because the fix is not working, so that you can forward this info to the devs and they fix it for good. Maybe they fixed it only for when a manual scan has never been run at all, or only in Auto Pilot context, maybe…
  • Thanks, Gary. Yeah the bug has been mentioned in many threads, but this is the one I was referring to: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=28186& It is exclusively dedicated to this manual scan bug, so I just commented on it with more details. The other threads usually mention a bunch of issues, so they are…
  • As I also mentioned in http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=30092, the situation is not fixed at all: I ran a full system scan manually a few days after installing it. Today I received the same fateful message as back in August "The PC was scanned for virus 8 days ago." Bitdefender should either fix Autoscan so…
  • #1 is still not fixed. That was one of the main reason I tried v. 2012 again, so I ran a full system scan manually a few days after installing it. Today I received the same fateful message as back in August "The PC was scanned for virus 8 days ago." I'll try to find the other thread where I initially reported the issue, or…
