That's it, I am out, after nearly 4 years on Bitdefender, faithfully reporting bugs, suggesting improvements to the product, helping on the forum at times: Another big spam pop-up just now (attached), again at the most inappropriate time, that was the last straw. The top line of the pop-up is not even readable…

Yeah, good luck with that, G, I hardly manage to agree with myself most of the time. ^-^ please send me via PM ... your country(where the PC is located). And FYI Christian I am moving home across continents, countries are so second millennium...

Hi Christian, I categorically refuse to perform this ridicule step. The spam should be opt-in for all, not opt out for a few elected individuals through an exception list that makes the product even more fragile, and it should not happen via pop-ups on your customers' desktops at the most awkward or even embarrassing…

There's more than spam popping up, there's other threads popping up on my radar too, like Rick Gates's. Not only I will never upgrade to BDIS for the same price as BDAV precisely because of this spam, but I am not likely to renew my license at all or recommend any Bitdefender product when I experience such condemnable…

So what's happening on this issue, Christian? It's been 3 weeks since you last replied. As you can see, a lot of people don't like these pop-ups too, please move them to emails people can unsubscribe from instead of spam pop-ups on our desktops.

Well that didn't do anything for me, I just got another pop-up for a 3 days-only $50 special offer. :[ The same kind as all previous spam pop-ups. I couldn't take a screenshot at the time, but I suppose I'll see the spam again tomorrow and the next day, I can try then. Anyway, it's the same kind as all the screenshots…

Absolutely, it makes sense only if there is no file transfer or remote desktop or other relevant network activity. And I assume the infection risk while the antivirus is disabled is mostly for incoming connections and maybe new processes started automatically, so there may be no need to close outgoing connections. I have…

Thanks, Christian, I installed the modified IpmServer registry key. I am not sure what kind of feedback I can give you if I don't see or know of any pop-ups. Should I expect something different to report?
-
Great, thanks. If it's still in design stage, I'd rather not wait a week and have the least obtrusive but most effective icon color change happen immediately at the same time as the "Reboot required" alert. It's a security product, so the earlier the notification the better, and some people might need to schedule such a…

We have a lot of customers that like this type of promotions or special offers. Clicking an X button is not that bad. One more thing, you received the same pop-up related to ID theft protection or the one with the renewal offer? Both. The first and the last one with the renewal offer that's not even close to my renewal…
-
The constant multiple "Reboot required" message seems to be fixed, I see only one "Reboot required" red alert now in my events. Well, partially fixed, because there is no way to be aware that a reboot is required unless you actively open the Bitdefender interface and check out your events every day, which of course nobody…

Hope the patch will be out soon: Another pop-up today right in the middle of watching a movie in full screen on the TV. This time I could take a snapshot. Which manager had the brilliant idea to spam their own customers in the most upsetting manner he could conceive??? Forgot to mention that the pop-up repeated twice more…

Thanks, Christian.

In my case the services were already stopped, so I could restart them right away. Sorry this did not work for you. Don't be too alarmed though, Windows 7 already offers you a good level of protection against intrusions. It's mostly if you yourself perform actions such as authorizing an elevation of privilege or opening…

Until the BD support people kick in, try restarting the vsserv service (BitDefender Virus Shield) instead of rebooting the computer, it might be faster. I could solve some problems this way on my BDAV 2011, haven't had the problem on 2012 since I reported it. You were right to restart the computer, it's completely…

@Christian Yep, I can see the full history now too, this was not the case yesterday. Pretty sure the board software can be customized, can use a different skin, or IP.Board can add the feature if you escalate the issue with them. It really does not make sense to have these 2 features (topics and posts) hidden outside the…

So where's my gray wart already? I miss it! ^-^ I didn't see the bug fix listed in the update information, but the toolbar stayed disabled as per user setting after a reboot. So it looks like this bug is finally gone, thanks for the constant support, Christian. I wonder how hard it really was to fix, and obviously I don't…
-
I can wait, another week does not matter at this stage, it's been over half a year since the bug was found. You guys should work on a single worldwide roll-out for updates, this manual picking of countries is unmanageable and frustrating for users. And stick to roll out dates too. If a feature or bug fix that require a…
-
Great, thanks, Christian. Since you already have the RO update, can you confirm the toolbar stays disabled after a reboot?

I saw in another thread that the January update is releasing presently, so, since 2012 is a bis###tile year, I guess we will have it in time for January 32nd... Edit: I said biss.extile, not bis.exual! Please update your forum automatic rules. I'll use leap year next time. ^-^
-
Thanks, Christian, I see it now. Why is it hidden behind an "Options" drop-down list when there are already "Topics" and "Posts" links next to "About Me?" These 2 links seem to be broken, or at least filtered down to the past few days or current month of topics and posts, which is of course not what you expect when you…

Just had a look at the calendar, and guess what, today is later! ^-^ I rebooted the computer twice this week, and didn't notice the event anymore, with the wrong or right time tag. Not sure if it's fixed or what.

Hi Christian, this thread is NOT about promotional emails or newsletters. It is about pop-ups that appear every now and then on my computer's desktop near the Notification Area in the bottom right corner of the screen. See the screenshot Gary posted in his second post. Admittedly they are not frequent but they are highly…
-
Thanks, Christian, but my concern is not really the timeline relevancy of this one pop-up, it's about all the Bitdefender spam (i.e. unsolicited) pop-ups in general. Spam is a disgusting practice and one of the reasons customers buy your products is for its antispam features, so I hope Bitdefender will understand we don't…
-
@mdhowes The latest feedback is a few posts earlier in this thread, the fix is supposed to come in this month's update. I guess Bitdefender is still extensively testing and fine-tuning the update, so it does not introduce other bugs and regressions. I prefer that to a rushed update any time. A few more days do not matter…
-
Well they have 20 days left for the January update, let's see how this goes. They are certainly aware, if not awake, of the issue.
-
Some other user settings that reset to Enabled, like the toolbar, are supposed to be fixed in the January update. Let's hope your settings issue are part of the same problem and that they can solve it once for all in one fix.

More spam pop-ups from Bitdefender today. This time a "limited time offer" to upgrade to BDIS 2012 6 months before my license renewal is due. Please please please allow users to disable these pop-ups!!! This is SPAM!!! And the pop-ups can appear on the desktop at the most awkward moments. As a rule, I don't order anything…
-
Yeah, ridiculous is the word. Loading settings is a pretty basic feature for every software, but let's give it another shot with the January update. If it's not fixed by then and Bitdefender is still as slow to address issues reported by the time my license renewal is due, I'm out and I'll be very vocal about it.
