Hello You should leave the default settings for the Active Virus Control, the Aggressive mode is only for highly infected systems. Please set it to Normal and let me know if you are able to start those applications. Thank you! I had to do a complete uninstall and install of defender to fix the problem. I don't understand…

Sorry, i think i would of died of old age. Working after update. Windows 8 pro UI Apps are all failing after same update. But at least I can change settings....

Metro Apps? Microsoft dropped the name "Metro" some time back due to some legalities, but regardless, that's a Windows 8 issue and not necessarily a BitDefender one. What I would suggest is to turn off BD (temporarily) and see if the Apps work. Keep in mind that Windows 8 is still in Release Candidate mode and not yet…

Did your try the repair install? instead of removing it completely? Or the Uninstall tool after you uninstalled it properly? I had similar issues.
