Having this situation, I recommend you repair your BitDefender using the steps below: - Click on the START menu button; - Go to (All) Programs -> BitDefender 2011 -> choose "Repair or Remove"; - Follow the on-screen instructions and…

DanyDan: I downloaded the two patch files from http://kb.bitdefender.com/site/KnowledgeBase/article/810 and attempted to run bdfsfltr_1.exe, but it complains about missing files. Here are the contents of the log file: bdfsfltr.inf is NOT present bdfsfltr.cat is NOT present bdfsfltr.sys is NOT present

Hello BitDefender Team: I haven't seen any activity here in several days and I was wondering how a fix for this problem was going. Today I have tried repairing BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 and restarting my computer 6 times, but the Real-Time Protection still refuses to start. Usually it will start after about 2 or 3…

I have been having the same problem as well. I am running BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 on a Windows 7 Professional (64) system. I had BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2010 before and didn't have any problems with it (except for the bad update that was rolled out last year) and I am regretting the upgrade. The problem is…

@BitDee: The error you posted is related to BitDefender only. If your Operating System is working properly it's safe to repair / reinstall BitDefender. I did not understood to what missing drivers are you referring to so please provide me with more details - if possible screenshots of the error messages you receive.…

D May, my BD just did an update & that is the current version that you have right now. Dogman, have you tried reinstalling those apps? L.o.D - Thanks The applications that I noticed right away were Windows Accessories applications like calc.exe, cmd.exe, charmap, exe, etc. I eventually changed the path for these from…

I ran the patch_64b_update_issue.exe file and after a couple of reboots my Windows 7 x64 system is almost performing like it was before Saturday morning. However, there are still several programs that were quarantined and supposedly restored that refuse to run, reporting that “******.exe is not a valid Win32 application.”…

Hello Has the problem of files that were quarantined but cannot be restored because of "A file with the same name already exists" followed by "Failed to find the specified path" been solved yet? Thankfully my Windows 7 x64 system is still running, but severely crippled as when I try to run any programs that were…

I am interested in seeing how BitDefender will handle this in the next couple of weeks. I wonder if they will release a patch (that works), shrug and say “sorry,” everything will get back to normal and that will be it. This has been a huge blunder which has undoubtedly strained their relationship with their customers.
-
When the much anticipated patch is released I am questioning if I will be man enough to execute it.
-
Hello Dogman, Only x64 bit systems are affected by this situation. Cristi. Cristi - Thanks.

I just talked to BitDefender technical support and I was told that this was caused by an actual virus, not a bad patch. Has anyone else heard this? Nickadimus - I am sorry to hear about your crappy day in addition to this!

Hello all When I try to restore the quarantined files, BitDefender first complains that "A file with the same name already exists." When I click "OK" to confirm the replacement, BitDefender complains that it cannot find the specified path. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix / workaround?
-
Did this only affect Windows 7 64 bit systems, or are other Windows systems affected as well?
-
Ok BitDefender Technical Support - Many people have downloaded the new patch by now and have stopped BitDefender from its task of quarantining every file on their system. The question remains: how do we safely restore the hundreds+ files that have been quarantined so that we can get back to doing work, playing games,…

Does anyone know where BitDefender keeps the quarantined files? Since I keep seeing "A file with the same name already exists.." message I wanted to check the hashes of the quarantined file and the "already exists" file. Here is a note to the BitDefender developers: A "Do not replace file" button would be a nice option in…
