Thanks for the reply, but I'd rather keep an eye on what the Firewall's letting through. I uninstalled using the Bitdefender uninstall utility and then reinstalled Total Security and that seems to have done the trick.

Resetting the rules and a complete uninstall/re-install doesn't help either. Firewall continues to offer to Allow/Block every time Internet Explorer is run or links to a new tab and sets up a new tcp rule.

I've since discovered that if you add the Bitdefender forum to IE 11's list of sites to run in compatibility mode this issue stops.
