To everyone in here who still has problems. There is a chat option available just go to bitdefender.com and click "my bitdefender" in the top right, sign in, go to "my support," click "contact customer care" and choose "chat" in the "other contact options." They can help. Cheers, Chris

Hi, I would like a response to my previous posts by a Bitdefender rep. I described the errors I have with one pc. I have another pc affected by the same issue, this one does absolutely nothing, doesn't start into safe mode or anything, not even after running the rescue cd. I would like to know how to fix these. Also if the…

@_chris_ You should try to open the .xml files with Notepad or Wordpad and you will see that the file will contain the name of the file that was quarantined and the folder where it was located. These are the information that are shown in the Quarantine module from the BitDefender interface. Try to see if the quarantined…

@Chimel Thanks for your reply. Windows is working correctly as far as I can tell And the quarantine folder contains 44 bdq files and 44 xml files and no exe or dll files, each bdq file has an accompanying xml file, like BDQF_1269100294_229.bdq and BDQF_1269100294_229.xml . I think that bdq stands for "BitDefender…

@_chris_ Check a sample of these files to see if they are already restored: If they were already restored, it might be the reason why they are still in the quarantine folder. Some other users had files seemingly restored, but with a file size of 0 byte, so check also the file sizes in the quarantine and original folders.…

Can't hurt to checl, put look here to see if the folder is actually empty. x:\ProgramData\BitDefender\Desktop\Quarantine How many apps have the missing file error? Thanks, the folder is not empty. There are 88 files in there with a total of about 31 mb... And of the 10 apps I opened 4 of them complained about missing dll…

Hi, I posted in this forums 2 days ago that my pc completely crashed and would do nothing more than give a BSOD at startup after being struck by the faulty update. Only today I had the time to look at it again, planning to do a complete reinstall off windows vista x64 (all documents are safely backed up). Before I started…

@Chris: thank you again for the heads-up. All pages will be modified as we speak to reflect the fact that this patch is for 2010 versions only. Thank you. I will try system restore as you recommended and if that fails I'll probably upgrade to windows 7...
-
@_Chris_: Please make a System restore to a previous time in Safe Mode. The BSOD should be resolved. As I have already mentioned , the current patch is only for the 2010 version. If you don't have any files quarantined then feel free to re-install BitDefender 2009 or upgrade and use the 2010 version. Thanks for the reply.…

Yours was affected due to being on a 64bit OS. Yes, thank you, I know that it was affected because it it a 64bit OS. I meant that I think that the patch damaged my computer. Because my computer booted before applying the patch but gave a BSOD after.
-
@_Chris_: even if you are using an older version and not the 2010, NO damage will be done to your computer. Please scroll up and read my previous posts explaining the effects on using the patch and not having the 2010. Thanks for the reply. And I read your previous posts. But that doesn't explain that my computer (Vista…

@noisymonk and all the users of 2008 or 2009 products: The released patch is Only for the 2010 version. Using it may restore some of the files quarantined, however most of them will not match as each of the 3 versions (2008.2009 or 2010) have different engines and files locations. So I may just have F***** up my pc by…

Hi, I experienced the same problem yesterday with the false positive, running Vista x64 and bitdefender internet security 2009. Turned the pc off immediately and restarted in safe mode and scanned using bitdefender and trendmicro housecall. Bitdefender found 20000+ infected files and housecall 0 so I decided to wait for…
