I would also like to add that it doesn't work for other games as well; therefore BitDefender breaks Steam. It has been over a month and it hasn't been fixed. Even Steam's support page has BitDefender listed on their compatibility issue https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article...=9828-SFLZ-9289 .
