Unfortunately it seems to be related to the update. Every time it updates the console opens up. I've uninstalled it and will come back to BitDefender when the next version comes out. For now I'm back to Zonealarm Firewall and Sophos antivirus (crap but free for me).

Based on the following thread I have disabled automatic update. http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=537 I'm hoping that this corrects the problem for the next couple of hours, and then I will turn it on again and see if the problem returns.
