I don't believe most/many AV programs can detect Rootkits.

Great replies. 1. Ok, when I open a Explorer window and go to the folder where the rootkit is in, this 'driver' stops Explorer (or whatever program is triung to 'see' the file) from showing this rootkit. Is that about it? 2, If so, how does GMER (or any other rootkit detection program) 'see' this file? 3. If these…

Using that AVIS program with a update, five files were flagged. Three were in the System32 folder. One was a duplicate. The other two files were in the OpenOffice Writer folder. C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.3\program\fwk680mi.dll; Fragments:TR.ZLOB.37 C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.3\program\vcl680mi.dll;…

That's why I look at the total computer memory usage before and after.

I changed the primary server address in TCP/IP properties back to my router's address and it has stuck.
-
Ok, I just looked at Local Area Connection TCP/IP Properties and found the Perferred DNS server changed to the above address from my assigned router address. The Alternate DNS Server was changed from blank to some other address. This is the 2nd time I have seen this and orginally I assumed it was when I had a cable modem…

Ping result: "Ping request could not find host" Nslookup result: "Server: 85.255.112.77.static.ukrtelegroup.com.ua Address: 85.255.112.77" The Ukraine?? Again, I have never used any "Proxy" settings and I have no firewall. Verizon DSL is my IP.

Usually less than 8Mb used. I have seen it up to around 15Mb. That counting all 4. That is while its running behind the scenes and not performing a scan. That is not even touching 30-40-80Mb used for some other AV softwares out there. This is also running BD Total Security. you mean deleting them? You can TAKE CONTROL over…

Its not YOUR program.............. I still have not see excuses for why BD needs to be turned off and why its SOOO important to do so? I find so many complaints about the smallest things on this board. 1. It's in my computer, it's under my control. 2. Too many processes, 3. Too much memory use, 4. Conflicts with other AV…

It installed ok, but it doesn't start. Nothing happens.

Thanks anyway. Anyone else??

Would you look at your 'hosts' file?

The Exit button was removed for safety reasons Let the user decide, not some programmer. Too many false positives. Not being able to turn something off is unacceptable. Who do you think you are M$? Once it's installed, it's my program. If I don't want it running, it's my decesion. Period!

I didn't think anyone was still using that AOL POS.

Why do you have to rename the first file file to "test.exe"? That makes it harder to ID it later if you have to install it again. Program doesn't start. That Malware scanner can be had from here without the wait; http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Mal...i-Malware.shtml

No. I did see those complaints though. I uninstalled BD and the problem went away.
