ok i solved it, i left out that i am using an alternative desktop shell (emerge desktop), it appears that was what was causing the problems with bd, all's well now! thanks for your help!

well apparently i can install it now despite the uninstall tool's report of "Not Found" however now that its reinstalled, its not working quite right. there is no system tray icon and there are no pop-ups asking to allow or block programs, and certain features in the system are disabled and i cannot enable them

I tried it in safe mod on administrator with the same results from the uninstall tool
