Ok. Grabbed the ISO, burned the image, was quite hopeful when I got the option to select repair my system. Sadly it doesn't see the OS. Sorry to hear about that, it's not certain to work unfortunately. I hope this helps... http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html I've been through this before of trying to…

thank you for the help... if i go for win 7 do you think i need the full version, since i am without vista dvd and computer will not boot past black death screens? Main thing is that you access your data and store it somewhere. After that's done, you can simply install windows 7 and it will move out the old windows…

thanks tried it last night and didn't work but might as well try again... tears of pain and anger Ok, it has worked for me in the past. Well, do you have your data backed up? You should get a live cd... so you could at least access your data, move it to an external drive... and then just format... I suggest you upgrade to…

One of the mods stated earlier that it would be in the desktop folder within that Bitdefender folder. Should be, but I can't find one. Maybe it doesn't exist when the list is empty? My BitDefender data is at that location... I have my folder options to make hidden files visible but I still can't see any Quarantine…

@biomechman: thanks for the update, I do however need one more thing from you. Please ZIP / WinRAR ALL XML files from the Quarantine Folder and send me the archive via PM. The quarantine folder is: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BitDefender\Desktop\Quarantine C:\Users\All…

Check your quarantine files, there is a line there with the "photoviewer.dll"... try to restore it. Oh too bad! My firefox and a couple of other applications didn't work and that's what I did, I restored them... You could try and check this windows photo viewer: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/...-for-windows-7/…

Dogman... I might be having a similar problem like you are with some of these Windows Accessories application except, I don't think I have it as bad as you *knocks on wood*. The only problem I seemed to be getting right now is the PhotoViewer.dll. When I double click a picture I get this RunDLL error "There was a problem…

I am using engine version 7.30848 Yes, it is safe for you to restore your normal settings on BD, it's working as it should be at the moment...

Brunt, since I use default settings, I never knew about that delete setting. So drop the attitude. Did I EVER deny there was an major problem? No! Did I ever say anything about the system working as it should? No! But you have to wonder why anyone would allow a program to delete a file without trying to fix it first. But…

He asked why his machine was affected, in which, I told him it was due to using the 64bit OS. I never stated ANYTHING about the patch and that is exactly what I told him. Before you even THINK of saying something, you should care about READING what's behind and not assume that people are stupid. You've been here, since…

Yours was affected due to being on a 64bit OS. Why are you here confusing people? Ever since yesterday, you've been doing that... He was AFFECTED like everyone else who had a 64 bit system. The problem was he applied the patch provided by Bitdefender and now he can't boot normally... which he could before the patch.…

The patch doesn't install for me: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1162723/bd.jpg

Like all the others running a 64 bit machine I was affected yesterday. Fortunately, I did not reboot my computer and googled for the issue and realized that it was Bitdefender's own problem... disabled the live protection and my system continued to work "normally". I haven't rebooted or shut down my computer since…
