@Jens H Very reasonable response. I am fortunate enough to only be a home user of the bitdefender product, but I too have felt the pain. Night Rain, please read Jens H post - it is an example of how to add something constructive. My system is now functioning (I hope as normal) after following the knowledge base article and…

@Daniel - Well 24282 files in the quarantine folder deleted! PC seems stable for the minute but there is no way of telling for sure - only time will tell.

@gyp371: @Okky: Everything should work ok now for both Windows and BitDefender, feel free to remove all quarantined files. Just to be certain you can look in the location specified in the Quarantine and see if you have the file already listed (i.e. you see in Quarantine the file C:\Windows\System32\qwe123.dll then you need…

@MaverickScot: please define: 'Windows locks-up ' . Please keep in mind that you need to do the system restore only in Safe Mode if you are using Windows 7. @gyp371: that is the engine version on the computer that continue to detect the FakeAlert.5 ? On the same computer follow these steps: 1. restart the computer in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key when booting up; 2. go to Start menu button then go to Run; 3. Type services.msc and then hit OK; 4.…

I have gone to bitdefender and manually updated (which installed update) and rebooted PC -…

Hi, this hit me about 17.30 GMT. I genuinely thought it was a virus so called bitdefender and after 20 minutes spoke to someone. When I explained that bitdefender was quarantining files because they were infected with trojan.falsealert.5 the guy on the phone just told me to scan the computer and it will fix the problem if…
