Clearly, the problem occurs NOT ONLY when the BD update server is off-line updating virus data; it has been almost 48 hours since I began seeing the ERROR messages and I have not received any updates since then. Does anyone want to take a crack at my question? How hard would it be for BD to have a setting in the update window which says "Update Server Off-line. Check back later" so users would not worry about their machines?

I've checked Comodo firewall already (and just checked again) to verify that all BitDefender componants are allowed to access to the internet. That's not the problem. I can find livesrv.exe in the folder you mentioned, but I don't know how to make the change you suggest.
