Camarie Perhaps this will jog your memory from over a year ago. It looks like Bitdefender completly ignores user exclusions just as much now as it did over a year ago. At this point it seems like you guys have no intention of ever changing this.…

I'd like to respond positively to both of you. @Ironbuket has really helped the community and I think the company with his feedback. I get where Ironbuket is coming from. I too thought the gif was a bit odd coming from an admin, and I agree with the sentiment of what Ironbuket is saying. I can't speak for Ironbuket but I…

Agreed. Can you DM your alternative please? I too have a 3 year license, but given it's not even installed that makes it irrelevant. I'd like to know what you settled on please Ironbuket.

@camarie yeah that makes sense, and thanks for the answer. I sort of assumed that there would be a priority against each vulnerability and they would get address in order of priority. I again sort of expected this would be done in a modular way in maybe the virus definitions, part of the definition being how nasty the…

Thanks for the information Camarie. It is interesting hearing how things work behind the scenes. It also gives confidence when a company replies to issues. Just out of curiosity how does an anti-virus company deal with the life cycle of threats? Take log4j as an example. When it was discovered it was a huge threat. Large…

Thanks to Ironbuket and Camarie for getting this issue resolved. Camarie. I have two questions: If the fix is to respect user exclusions, why have they been ignored up to now? It doesn't make sense to me that Bitdefender has exclusion settings but the program ignores them? Clearly I'm not understanding something here? Is…

I'm wondering is there an algorithm that Bitdefender uses to choose the order it scans files in? For example the most simple and obvious algorithm would be to recursively iterate through all the files and folders in the current directory, and scan each in turn. But I expect anti-virus software might have a more complex…

Thank you Alexandru Image of xilinx install folder.

Forum software won't let me post links to the software or my image of the folders and files. Trying again here. Image of how many files - No forum software won't let me. Can't attach either. Link to software www.xilinx.com/products/design-tools/vivado/vivado-ml.html Tried to Direct Message the image to camarie but forum…

Fair play despite my earlier rant you guys do seem to be taking the problem seriously now, so I have to give you credit for that. Apologies if my rant is offensive but this problem is very frustrating. To try and add useful data into the investigation process my experience with the mechanical hard drive 100% for long…

@Camarie "I am still restarting the same test machine and I am still not getting two consistent results in a row." If your product behaves in a logical manner how are you not getting consistent results on your test machine? Does that in itself not point to a problem? If you can't predict how the software you make is going…

LOL. Sorry I was in the old thread. Just today a part of my brain thought "Maybe I install Bitdefender again, see if they fixed the problem". A different small and very valuable part of my brain said "Maybe check the forums of the old problem first". Needless to say after reading the old problem thread, and coming to this…

You could let us choose.

Thanks for trying Ironbuket. So basically the "fix" is to make it a bit more random as to when it happens, but all the negative effects are still present? What alternative AV product did you go to, and is it any good? I'm in the market.
-
Ironbuket. The once a day scan is still an issue for me if it can't be disabled. I don't suppose you'll take one for the team and try the new patch out? I don't want to install it again until I'm hearing from others this sillyness has been fixed.

Is there any method by which we will be notified when the fix for this issue goes live? Or do we just take a gamble every so often? Is there any mechanism whereby a user can sign up to be notified when a particular issue is resolved? How long roughly is "some time" ? A month, a few months? A year? A few years? Any…

Will someone be the test subject and try it out please? I don't want to reinstall this product until I know for sure they have worked out how to tell their asses from their elbows.

Hi I had this problem a while back, my comment near top of thread, and other threads of my own. I thought I would check back to see if any progress had been made. I purchased 3 year license, and ended up uninstalling product it hammered my mechanical hard drive for movies storage so much. JN234 like you it took my…

Very similar problem here. Scans my large mechanical drive and gives it a battering for 10-15 minutes multiple times per day. It happens to me about an hour after definitions updates. I always get "vulnerability notifications" afterwards so I don't think it's the AV engine ltself, more the vulnerability scanner. Trying to…

jleid I feel your pain man. For me bitdefender just ignores/changes back any setting I make. Here's a section from an email I just send back to support. I've had enough, I'm out. I just uninstalled Bitdefender and I'm only a few months into a 3 year sub :( more fool me for paying for this crap. "Just a single example I…
