Update still not fixed so had to go back to the free version.I see loads of feedback about this and they are not listening . Manual update works fine for me. I believe auto update is working fine as well.

I hope bitdefender do work on smaller updates. bitdefender install size is around 1gb some other products use less than half that and provide similar level of detection.
