I let it update to 26.0.25.86 this morning. CPU usage is normal. If they just rolled back some files for now, that is very acceptable even if they are still working on a final fix.

Thank you for letting us know! I'll still keep using the silent update workaround until next week then. But it's very nice to know a "finalized" fix is soon to be pushed out. Hope the testing goes well! And thanks for rapid response to this issue.

@MRyan Yes, Scott's workaround works. I'm a user just like you and also was at the point of considering canceling BD for 5 PC's (which had just renewed 3 days ago!) and looking at alternatives. But do an uninstall and reinstall one more time :) The installation file from yesterday that I got off their website was still…

After 2 days of messing, uninstalling, reinstalling, providing logs & dump files to BD Engr Support so they can troubleshoot, your simple suggestion seems to have worked!! After reinstalling it, I blocked wifi access to the PC, pulled ethernet cable, unchecked Silent Update, reconnected ethernet, and - got the dialog box…

Welcome to the update-blues club. Others are chiming in in 2 other threads.

^^ With all due respect Alex B, you folks already have increasing evidence of that the high CPU usage issue, from me and others is due to the update to build 26.0.25.84. I was asked by Andrei in Engr Support to use performance recorder and record all processes and activities, also create bdservicehost dump file, new…

That's my experience too. Reinstall, works OK & CPU usage as expected until that forced update. Then nothing prevents the program from behaving like it's scanning 100% of the time in the background resulting in close to what you're seeing. Actual % would depend on the actual CPU but mine varies from approx 8-12% to 20-21%…

What you report is exactly what I am experiencing. Same thing, works OK until the update then CPU usage jumps significantly with no active scans, no activity, PC just idle except for bdservicehost, the anti-virus agent, working the CPU, the most use of every background service or app. Normally it ran at 0.2% idling. Now…

I'm having the same problem with higher CPU usage and resulting higher fan speeds. The CPU usage with no active programs, web access or active use used to be in the range of approx 1-5% with bdservicehost taking about 0.2%. After the program update this AM, 8-30-22, I now have a minimum of 8-20% with bdservicehost taking…
