Putting aside the matter of compensation for the moment, what I most want to see is a BitDefender director to be upfront and absolutely clear in admitting they made a mistake, and specifying the changes they are going to make to ensure that this does not happen again. We all make mistakes. How we respond to them is the…

The only thing about the email and website news flash is that those that could not load windows would never see/get them. Not saying it's an excuse. Just sayin.... Many people have Blackberry's or iPhones, etc. that they can check their email on. Therefore, I think an email would have still been an effective means of…

Then who would you say is responsible for turning on a feature on YOUR machine? So are you then blaming the user? I thought you just posted 'I also never once stated that the user was to blame.'?

You are putting words into my mouth, Brunt. I never once stated that BD was working as it should. I got the same issue, other than windows getting killed off. Yes, BD screwed up bad. I never denied that. BUT, the fact still remains that only those that did use the auto delete have gotten their windows killed. There's no…

I am not a BD employee. Just like many others after this happened, this is my first visit on the BD forum, to check out the situation. I can agree that an e-mail would have been very nice. Or even a message through BD's news service, which could have splashed a warning message right in the bottom right corner of the screen…

If the files already exist you no longer need to restore them. After 30 days the files will be automatically removed by BitDefender. Cristi Thanks for the reply. I know this must be pretty hard on you since it looks like you're the only one responding on this forum. Hang in there!

@Lost_n_Confused - > the quarantine files are here C:\Users\All Users\BitDefender\Desktop\Quarantine , but they are encrypted. You could, at most, copy that entire folder and use it when you reinstall BitDefender. @Daktari - >most Windows files restore themselves automatically, that's why you cannot restore some of them,…

Maybe you should be looking at the comments and doing what people have been asking you to do: 1. Start posting on your main site - this is not some simple screw up - this is major. 2. Clearly document those that are hit. 3. Send emails to those who may not have been hit yet. 4. Post clear simple instructions as to what to…

Hello all, Please read this article for information on how to restore Windows. http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=18789 I also need to know what version of BitDefender are you running and on which operating system. It is very important to know if it's a 32 or a 64 bit system. Thank you. I'm running Windows7…

No, I'm saying people should learn a bit about things that they use in every day life, so when the brown gooey stuff hits the fan they know what to do. Would you honestly feel safe going for a long road trip if you KNEW that you dind't know how to change a tire, or top up your oil? If your answer is "screw that, I just…

... And to all the ****** who want a refund or want to sue or whatever other BS, PUH-LEEEASE!! In most (if not all) cases, you screwed your system up yourself (because you dind't bother to read up on the problem or contact BD for assistance) by restoring, uninstalling BD and so on. Yes, this is a nuisance and we all wasted…

this will never happen again.it was just a human error.we all do mistakes.a fix will be made soon for all users. Just want to confirm - do you work for BitDefender? If so, can you state that somewhere? If not, then how do you know enough to make your statement?

I was able to get up and running again using Win 7 restore. However, I have a bunch of files in my quarantine list (including many system files). What should I do with these? When I attempt to restore, BD tells me that the files already exist. Should I just ignore this quarantine list? Will it clear itself up?

I just registered to also voice my displeasure on how all of this is being handled by BD. The least they could have done was to send out an email warning about the issue (as someone else has mentioned) or putting up some information on their main web page or support page and listing the products and OS's that are affected.…
