well, took a while, but yesterday i got an uninstall tool and a new copy of bd installation via mail by the bd support team, used the uninstall tool, cleaned some registry files manually, installed fresh - and magic, it works. the settings now stay as i intend. thanks for the replies!

Right click on the BD Icon and on "Run As Administrator". Go to your "Paranoid Mode" and turn it on. It should work. i will try a couple of restarts with the administrator option as you suggested indie. will report back and see how it goes. thanks!
