Ive Lost Console Access To Windows Home Server

Just installed trial of IS 2009 on my WHS machine, and ive lost all whs console access...
I even had to configure a custom fw rule with specific ports to allow me to access my whs web portal...
Considering a version of IS is made for WHS, you shouldnot have to go manually configuring options.. people who have no FW skills or knowledge would be stumpted.. It took me a while to find out what port range I had to allow so that I could gain web access to my WHS web page..
I can access WHS Console from any internal pc, or from the WHS web portal... this should be a simple option which should auto config the firewall...
Please advise how to fix...??
