Bitdefender is closing my connection for Sierra chart

Hello,

Bitdefender is (usually after an update) closing my connection for Sierra chart with error "windows error code 10053". I have tried to add Sierra chart to exceptions, but it doesn't work.

Can anyone to help to fix that?
Thanks you

  • Hello @Gore.m and welcome to the community.

Here's what I could find regarding this error: Winsock error 10053 used to be usually related to network problems, not software, but now it is also commonly caused by anti-virus software. 10053 is a winsock error with the description "Software caused connection abort".

Temporarily disable the Bitdefender firewall to see if this is causing the issue. If the problem resolves, consider adding an exception to the firewall as well:

    • You can also try to reset Winsock. Open CMD with administrator rights, then type the following command and press Enter: netsh winsock reset. Restart your PC after running the command.

Also check if there's an update available for the Sierra chart. The update may fix bugs related to network connections. And update network drivers, if possible:

    • Go to the Device Manager.
    • Expand the Network adapters section.
    • Right-click your network adapter and select Update driver.
    • Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.

If the error persists after trying these possible solutions, there may be a deeper issue with your network configuration or the specific application you're using. In such cases, seeking further technical support may be necessary. In the event the connection issue is indeed caused by the antivirus and this cannot be fixed using the basic troubleshooting methods, you can contact Bitdefender Support directly, for a more in-depth investigation.
You can get in touch with the Bitdefender engineers by choosing one of the contact channels listed here:

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.

I hope this helps and please do let us know what worked for you.

    Regards,
