SLOW Response Only with Yahoo finance

Since installing Antivirus plus, Yahoo Finance web site is SLOW. There's a 10 - 15 seconds delay between switching screens and downloading Excel … Is there a setting for that?

  • Hello @Luckit,

Are you sure it's just that page? Are you also using a VPN or the Anti-tracker extension?

  • Hello.

To add here, if you have Anti-Tracker installed and enabled, you could follow the steps from this article:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/28500/

    Regards.

  • The steps in the link doesn't list for Microsoft Edge. how do I disable The virus protection for only 1 web site using Edge ? thank you

  • Hi @Luckit,

The above steps are for the Anti-tracker extension, so can you confirm if you are actively using it or not? Perhaps you could try to add the Yahoo Finance website to the exclusions list in the Antivirus settings, if the page still loads very slow? It doesn't make sense for just that page to behave like that, unless it has to do with other tasks in the background. If the page contains anything malicious, then Bitdefender would block it straight away. Hard to tell really, judging by this information alone. VPN and Anti-tracker would be the first things to check, however, if you are not actively using these, then this would require a closer look..

  • Hi Alexandru,

I understand that I can turn off Bit defender once I get to the Yahoo Finance page. (For this page only)

The issue is that the steps listed in the link above only cover Crome, Firefox and Internet Explorer,

they do not show the options to turn off for MS Edge.

There is no  “click the cogwheel in the upper right-hand corner” for MS Edge.

How do I turn off for MS Edge ?

    Thank you,

    Gregg

  • Do you have the Anti-tracker extension active in MS Edge? Meaning that, did you install it by following the below steps?

Edge will launch and take you to the Bitdefender Anti-tracker page in Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
    Click the “Get” button.
Click Add extension in the prompt that appears to add the Anti-tracker extension to Microsoft Edge.

Open the Edge browser and look next to the address bar. If installed, it should be under the puzzle icon:

then open the Anti-tracker and click on each category from the list and select Disable blocking for this category:

    • Advertising
    • Site Analytics
    • Customer Interaction
    • Social Media
    • Essential

If the page works fine after disabling all these five categories, re-enable just one at a time in order to identify the culprit.

If the issue persists after disabling these trackers categories, re-enable all of them. Then click the cogwheel from the Bitdefender Anti-tracker extension and 'Add the current website' to the list of 'Exceptions'.

    Regards,

  • I understand that I can turn off Bit defender once I get to the Yahoo Finance page. (For this page only) - Here I'm referring to the Anti-tracker browser extension and not the actual Bitdefender antivirus, these are two separate things. The antivirus cannot be disabled for a specific web page, but its security modules can be temporarily disabled for troubleshooting purposes. Then, a website or .exe can be added as an exclusion, in the event Bitdefender blocks it or the page/app doesn't work as expected.

But I think the latter behavior is rather related to an extension that blocks various trackers, including certain essential trackers for the correct functioning of the respective page, as such I recommended that you turn your attention to Anti-tracker in the first phase, in the event that the extension it is actually installed on the browser you use to access the page that loads slowly.

Now, it is of course possible that you have other extensions that block ads or trackers, and in this case the source of the problem may be elsewhere. Of course, I have no way of knowing what other applications or extensions are installed on that device and which could interfere with the proper functioning of that page, so what I can do is to offer you the relevant instructions for the Bitdefender applications in this case.

    Thanks

  • Hi Alexandru,

I apologize, but I still can't figure it out… is there a tech support phone number so someone can walk me through this ?

FYI, the latency is happening with both browsers. Firefox and MS Edge.

If I can't figure out how to stop the 15 - 20 seconds delay when accessing Yahoo Finance, I'm going to need to cancel my subscription and uninstall bit defender
