2 ports open on scanning

Options

Hi there, I've done a scan over on the SheildsUP site. All is OK appart from:

Ports: 80 (HTTP) & 443 (HTTPS) are open. Is this normal?

All software is updated. WinXP SP2 system using the latest BD10.

Many thanks

  • Normally, they shouldn't be open. Test it yourself, by going to command prompt (STAT -> Run -> cmd.exe) and type in tthe command

telnet localhost port <here you enter 80 then 443>

and see if the connection attempt fails. They may be only semi-opened, but normally, you shouldn't have any daemon running on them.

Maybe you installed apache or something similar and you forgot...

My suggestion: get a firewall..what BD has can't be named a firewall :)
