Updates take a long time and render my PC unusable while updating.

Why can't I choose when to run the update so my work is not interrupted?

  • Hello @LNP3262,

By default, Bitdefender performs automatic updates when you turn on your computer and every hour after that. When an update is detected, it is automatically downloaded and installed. Bitdefender needs to be updated daily, and it frequently updates its signatures multiple times within a day. However, when it comes to product updates that involve changing the version number, they occur less frequently, typically once every 4 weeks. These updates are important for improving product performance, adding new features, and enhancing security.

I think you could make good use of the Profiles feature in the scenario you've described:

For example, you could activate the Work Profile and this will apply the following product settings:

    • All Bitdefender alerts and pop-ups are disabled.
    • Automatic Update is postponed
    • Scheduled scans are postponed.
    • Search Advisor is disabled
    • Special offers notifications are disabled.

Here's how you can configure it:

I hope the information is helpful. For more details regarding Bitdefender updates on Windows, I would recommend this article:
