Bitdefender not running system scan at startup
I recently installed Bitdefender after the recent Kaspersky disaster. I set Bitdefender to run a system scan at startup, but it doesn't run. What am I missing?

Hello @Porcupine1979,
The first place to look would be the Profiles. If one of the Profiles is enabled, or if the option to enable Profiles automatically based on usage is enabled, the scheduled scans will be postponed. Bitdefender Profiles assign more system resources to the running applications by temporarily modifying protection settings and adjusting system configuration.
Let us know if this is the case so I can advise further.

Profiles are not turned on. I have it installed on multiple PCs, and it runs correctly on those.

If I set a scan to run at a particular time, and I turn the PC on after that scheduled time, will it run after I start it up?

Yes, it should run the scan after startup in the scenario you've described. But I think this applies for small margins, for example if you scheduled the scan to run at 1700hrs and start the PC and 1900hrs, then it should work, but if you power it on after two weeks, I'm not sure it will run..
If the Profiles are OFF and the scheduled scans still don't run as expected, you can ask the Support teams to have a closer look at this. You can get in touch with the Bitdefender engineers by choosing one of the contact channels listed here:
State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.
Let us know if you could resolve this and what was happening there, if possible.
Thanks

It seems like it worked today at startup. I'll keep an eye on it and set it to a timed scan if I need.
Can I set up 2 scans? One to run at startup, and then one to run at a particular time? Sometimes I leave the laptop on all weekend.

Sure. Look, I set a scan to run at system startup and another one to run daily at noon:
You can of course rename them as you wish and there are also additional options you can set for them, for example you can set the scan paths, you can set it to scan only applications, you can also set the scan task priority (if resources are not a concern you can set the priority to 'high'), you can also set it to perform these scans minimized in the background, so they won't steal focus, and you can choose what post scan actions to take, for example if you wish to view a summary window, shutdown device or simply close the scan window once it's finished.
