WireGuard with Bitdefender

I am using Bitdefender antivirus and have installed WireGuard to connect to my server in the office from home or while traveling. However, I can’t connect, and I also lose internet access when WireGuard is enabled. How can I resolve this issue?

  • Hello,

Does it work with the Firewall OFF?

  • Hello,

No, it dosent work. Nothing work…

I've to work with an other PC with Teamviewer and let this laptop in the office always on….

    That's not normal….

  • Turn OFF all Bitdefender modules from the interface and check to see if the connection is working after each deactivation. You'll find the steps here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/28557/

If the issue is caused by Bitdefender Shield, you can add an exclusion for the antivirus:

If the issue is caused by ATD, add an exclusion for this module:

Apps that connect to the internet are usually blocked by the Firewall or by the Encrypted Web Scan. Apps that run locally are usually blocked by ATD, or the Shield. Apps that connect to a local network resource are usually blocked by the Firewall, the "scan network shares" feature present in the Shield tab or by the EWS. So there are a few things to check there.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for your help.

I've tried all the steps over and over again but it doesn't work.

When I tried to work with WireGuard to connect to server/office I lost my internet connection and it doesent work…

    I don't know what to do…

  • I understand. In this case, I would recommend contacting the Technical Support Teams, as more information might be required to troubleshoot this. You can get in touch with the Bitdefender engineers by choosing one of the contact channels listed here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.

For the record, if you are also using Bitdefender VPN, this allows you to exchange between protocols, Wireguard included, so make sure there's no conflict there.

This may not actually be linked to the issue your are experiencing, but I thought it's worth mentioning.

Another thing, ensure Stealth Mode is disabled in the firewall settings:
