  • Hello @MT01,

I think it can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint whether Bitdefender is directly responsible for software freezes, but there are a few practical steps you can try to narrow down the cause. In general, a security solution can occasionally interfere with legitimate applications—particularly when those applications use installers, licensing systems, or disk-access patterns that antivirus engines might mistake for malicious activity.

Now, assuming the Arturia program was correctly whitelisted for both the Antivirus and Advanced Threat Defense modules (here you can find out more about adding exclusions for ATD), it's possible that they may not always address every process or subcomponent. Fully disabling protection (temporarily) can help definitively confirm whether Bitdefender is the culprit. You can disable the security modules in Bitdefender one by one, and launch Arturia after each deactivation, to find out if one of the modules is blocking the app from working as intended.
Here's the full guide for this:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/28557/

If the Arturia Collection stops freezing with Bitdefender fully disabled, you have likely found your culprit and you can take further steps once you know which module is preventing its proper functionality. If the software continues to freeze, then it’s likely due to another cause.

Then, even though you mentioned adding exceptions, it’s worth double-checking that. Make sure all relevant folders and files associated with Arturia are excluded, especially .exe files for the ATD. Now, based on what I was able to find online regarding this program, they can include:

    • The Arturia program folder (usually under C:\Program Files\Arturia)
    • The data folder or content libraries (often in C:\ProgramData\Arturia or in your user Documents folder)
    • Any .exe files for standalone instruments, the Arturia Software Center (for license management), or the VST plug-in locations (e.g., C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins, C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins, etc.).

Other things to check, this time unrelated to Bitdefender are the audio drivers and Windows itself, because freezing can also come from audio driver or graphics driver conflicts. The checklist here looks like this:

    • ASIO or audio drivers (e.g., for your audio interface) are the most recent version.
    • Windows is up to date.
    • Graphics drivers (especially if the Arturia software uses OpenGL for its GUI) are up to date

Furthermore, check for conflicting plugins / DAW issues. If you’re running the Collection inside a DAW (e.g., Ableton, FL Studio, Cubase), try loading the Arturia instrument in a different DAW or in standalone mode. If it works fine in standalone mode but not in your DAW, there might be a DAW-specific conflict.

Also perform a clean boot in Windows (which disables non-essential services and startup apps):

    1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter.
    2. Under Services, check “Hide all Microsoft services,” then click Disable all.
    3. Under Startup (in Task Manager on Windows 10), disable all startup items.
    4. Reboot and try launching Arturia.

If it functions normally during a clean boot, a startup service or program is conflicting. Re-enable services/startup items one at a time to identify the culprit.

Finally, if nothing here works, a fresh reinstall for Arturia might help if there’s a corrupted file or registry entry, but that's the last resort. First, you should establish if the antivirus is actually conflicting with the app's functionality in some way, because if it does, obviously the other troubleshooting steps I posted here don't apply anymore, but I thought it's worth mentioning all the possible fixes I've found.

    I hope this helps.
