BitDefender has regularly scheduled updates, depending on how it is initially set up. One question that I would like to ask; is there a way to reach out for updates 'manually' at a time of your choosing ?

Also, the update files are a regular naming convention and recognizable.

Last update I received was a voluminous mess of files I had never heard of.

What did I just download ?? tia

These are regular program files, which means is a product update and not (only) a signature update.

I believe that @camarie, who works at Bitdefender as Principal Software Developer, and/or @Alexandru_BD, who works for Bitdefender, can answer your question.

I'm not sure what means "Last update I received was a voluminous mess of files I had never heard of." Can you offer some examples?
AFAIK the update files are simply coming with .upd extension appended to the file to be updated, as in bdagent.exe.upd update file for bdagent.exe. (Of course, there are exceptions, custom operations, temporary files etc. needed).

About scheduling manually an update, I don't think such a feature exists (as in "do the update on hour X"). I asked the team if such a thing exists (again, AFAIK, there isn't) and will get back.

The OP posted 2 (two) screenshots, but it seems that he/she deleted them.

Anyway, he/she was refering to these files:

A few minutes ago, i got the latest build, and that's why i said earlier that they are connected to the latest MAJOR build.

That's the reason the OP is confused with these files, since that they are not "regular" update files, like: Plugins/emalware.i98, Plugins/e_spyw.i17 etc.
