Was there a new product update?

In the early morning today I got a notification in the bottom right of my screen from bitdefender about a new product update with new features. I clicked okay and then got a notification from windows security that I needed to turn on virus protection, I know this can happen when updating so i wasnt worried. However, when it was finished I ran a scan with it which failed due to error multiple times. I started to worry if the notification might have been a trick and not a real bitdefender update. I looked up bitdefender updates on the site and it says the latest version is 27.0.52.261 though mine says 27.0.52.262. I also opened my other computer and got no notifications about any such update. So im just wondering am I being overly paranoid and this was a legit update that I being slowly rolled out and hasn't been added to the website yet or is it possible it was a trick?

Did your other computer update to new version ? I have a similar issue,, one of my laptops updated to new version,,,,,the other did not. Have been unabe to resolve even after uninstalling and reinstalling directly from Bitdefender Central. One laptop still on older version. Frustrating !

Give it some time. It's not a general rule that an update should arrive on two machines at the same time, but both will receive it, eventually.

I also confirm this is the latest Bitdefender version. For the record, it was just a minor update, and I think they will update that knowledge base article soon. I have also posted the release notes on the forum just now:

Regarding this — I started to worry if the notification might have been a trick and not a real bitdefender update, apart from consulting the above threads whenever there's an update, here's an article that can help you spot fake antivirus notifications in general, as these are quite popular nowadays:

With all due respect, you have to admit update roll-outs are wildly inconsistent. Yes they are released "gradually". To ensure a smooth experience; to maintain stability and compatibility across all systems.

Technical Support states "The rollout process is not prioritized by any criteria. Once the update is available on your device, it will be automatically installed." Huh?

I did not receive the 262 update until eleven (11) days after it's release for one host. Others took longer. The 265 release was made available on 26-June. I am curious to see how long it takes to eventually be available on my device.

Yes, patience is a virtue I know, and you ask us to give it some time but eleven days is an eternity in the Information Systems Security domain. Makes one wonder if perhaps the supporting infrastructure is somehow deficient.

Posting rollout metrics would provide transparency but I realize that is probably just a pipe dream.

The rollout process depends on the stability of each release.
At times, we may pause the rollout to address specific issues. Some releases are deployed more quickly than others—such as version 265—while others may take longer. There is no personalized release schedule for individual users.

The wide variety of systems and devices, along with the stability of the release, determines the pace. Just consider the different Windows versions we support, starting from Windows 7 onward.

What may seem like "inconsistent" rollouts actually allows us to pause and resolve issues in real time, rather than pushing them off to a future update and simply notifying users after the fact.
