Bd Detects Virus On Unknown Location When Doing Windows Update

Options

Dear Support,

I have been using Bitdefender now for more than 6 months, and I have been very satisfied with your product.

However, until recently I've started to experience several problems with my Vista machine. To remedy the problem, I've done a complete reinstall of Vista (format HD and reinstall vista from CD).

After about 6 hours of installing and updating Vista, I installed bitdefender Total Security 2009.

At random times, I get the following error on my clean machine, which I can reproduce now also when I am running windows update:

So what happens is: I am scanning my computer with windows update for new updates, and this process stops with an error. Simultaneously, I am getting the Bitdefender error saying that a "Virus" has been found on an "Unknown Location"... Apparently Bitdefender real-time scanner is detecting some kind of pattern... But it blocks my PC operations, which is annoying.

The attached Screen captures tell a thousand words, even if you don't understand it (because it is in Dutch).

I can hardly believe that after a clean install of Vista I am already stuck with a virus.

What is the problem here?

best regards,

Sven

Got the exact same problem on a Vista laptop, no problem on my XP desktop. Get the popup evry time i start up the machine and also get it whenever there is an update available trough Windows Update, so defenitly a conection between the popup and Windows Update. Reinstall of BitDefender did not help and I am sure there is no virus on it. Also Dutch version of Vista and BitDefefender here, maybe a localization problem?

Hope there will be a solution fast.

There is a whole thread on this thing here : http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=8562

  • I have the very same problem! i have been reading the other post already, but they only talk about the solution of Firefox update! For us this problem shows up as soon as we wanna update windows vista! It has nothing to do with Firefox. (at least for us)
