Has anyone encountered a fake Bitdefender wanting to install ULTRAVIEWER
Hi,
I haven't heard about this, but can you share more details, for example where did you get the antivirus from, and how did you reach the conclusion that the security solution was trying to install that remote access software on its own? Screenshots would be most helpful here. I can only assume that a fake antivirus warning may have something to do with this, otherwise there's not a chance in the world Bitdefender would try to install that program on your device. Did you call anyone, were you prompted to call a specific number or anything like that?
Thanks!
To add here, UltraViewer is a remote desktop software similar to TeamViewer. It's designed primarily for remote tech support and allows you to control another computer over the internet. However, as @Alexandru_BD mentioned, a screenshot will be required to confirm if everything is legitimate.
Regards
Hello. I promoted you to Level 2. You can now post screenshot(s) of the issue, so we can better understand it. Regards.
Yes, a quick search online will tell you what UltraViewer is, if you are not familiar with it. And you are correct to assume that it's a similar software to TeamViewer. But the antivirus should NOT require the user to run that app, so we need more information here, where was this message displayed and when, because this sounds like a scam to me.
Hello again.
In the meantime, you could check these articles:

Yes, I think these articles are also relevant in this context. There have been cases where people reported getting calls out of the blue from so-called "tech support" claiming their system was infected and urging them to allow remote access so they could remove the "infection".. BEWARE!
I saw it yesterday — he had already been promoted to Level 2, lol.
I had fake Microsoft online techs use Ultraviewer that totally took over an older computer so I had to replace it. System is still fending off additional attempts. Had to replace modem with an updated one also. And we also setup a new bank account and changed all our cards as well. Miserable process. Wondering if I changed a setting on my Bit Defender because it keeps showing popups that want me to decide if I should accept an item. I want to change that back and have Bit Defender decide!
Sorry to hear that.. it must have been a tiring and cumbersome process..😒
Unfortunately, this is the world we live in today, one where you need to watch your back everytime you go online. It's the sad truth. Can you tell me more about these pop-ups from Bitdefender, what exactly is the message displayed there? This would help us identify what setting must be made/reversed in this case. A screenshot would be most helpful. And thanks for joining us here.
